- The US has strict limits on how the money can be used, and it is NOT under the complete control of the Iranian government. The money is only permitted to be taken out in exchange for humanitarian purchase such as food, medicine, and farm supplies. The US still has the ability to freeze the money if any rules are broken and they can validate where every dollar that is withdrawn ends up going.

This isn’t a war. It’s an act of terrorism, much like 9/11. 
A war has clear goals for the combatants. This is true even in Ukraine: Russia can win by destroying Ukraine’s army or forcing it to surrender. Ukraine can win by forcing Russia to leave its territory. 

What are the goals here? Hamas is trying to spread terror, murder and mayhem. It says it wants to eradicate the state of Israel but it has no means to do so and it’s in fact an impossible goal. Israel, on the other hand, has no goals at all in this situation. It can occupy Gaza, again, but it doesn’t want to. It can take out Hamas’ leadership and organization, again, but this only leads to other terrorists filling the vacuum. 

For all their faults (and there are plenty) the Israelis are the good guys in this situation and I am glad we are supporting them. Hamas is clearly evil. But there has to be an alternative to this endless bog that is not a war, but a frustrating struggle that only seems to get ever worse decade after decade.
