I'm thinking it's probably not what others are thinking by "set up" (though it might be), but a part of me is bigly tinfoil hat about it, just combining two thoughts:

I've long figured the "powers that be" don't intend a 2nd term for Biden, though they did intend the 1st.

It seems odd to fly "the leader of the freeworld" into that zone at the moment. Plainly foolhardy. 

A result of this implication is the U.S. would most definitely be in the war, which would turn into a greater war that we'd likely need to white-flag ourselves in early.

Hopefully that's both paranoid and simpleminded though.

I'm not actively expecting something to happen to 46, just would not be shocked if it did.

That one I think is definitely deliberate.  Anyone with half a brain knew that it was at least 50/50 Hamas did this, whether accidentally or intentionally.  The fact that people are in the streets at our embassy and that part of the world is in uproar over this shows there is no winning there.  The US or Israel is the enemy even if their own neighbor kills them somehow one or the other is to blame.

Yep.  Most likely a Hamas oopsie, followed closely by Hamas doing it on purpose.  Israel doing it is a distant third, but frankly I wouldn't care if they did it.  Hamas has no soul; they put their military structures in hospitals and other civilian areas in direct contradiction of the rules of war, because they rely on our reacting with western values.  They are not human, as we define human.  They take pipes we send to improve the water supply, the supply they soiled with their tunnels, and they turn them into fusilages for rockets.  They take concrete for infrastructure and turn it into more tunnels.  They use their people as human shields, and they prevent them from leaving, because they need the shields.

Give people as much time as practical to leave, into Egypt or one of their many Arab brethren countries (but shockingly, they won't let them in, because they don't want the Hamas cancer spreading into their countries.  This also is Israel's fault I presume).  Anyway, let people get out who can, then turn Gaza into a sheet of glass.  

There is no "oh noes, the reciprocation!"  One side seeks out and burns and tortures babies, rapes and kills women, and uses their people as shields.  The other attacks the military, which is placed in civilian areas, and in doing so kills some civilians.  You are on one side or the other; "can't they all just get along" is childish and impossible.

If Hamas dropped their weapons today, there would be peace tomorrow.  If Israel dropped their weapons today, they would all be dead tomorrow.

There is no moral relativism with evil, and there is no negotiating with Hamas.  They do not want land, they want to kill all the Jews.  They proudly say "you celebrate life, we celebrate death."  Just end them already and give them what they want.

What if and this is hypothetical. He wasn't to make it out of Israel. Obviously it would be totally fake and he could go eat ice cream tucked away until he actually does of natural causes.

Harris becomes president and even the conservatives who hate Biden would rally behind his assassination. This pulls the US into the war completely. It also shores up the presidency for the Dems.

In 1982 Israel chased the PLO into Lebanon after being attacked by the PLO from Lebanon  The US, as part of a multi national peace keeping mission, escorted the PLO out of Lebanon, not allowing Israel to destroy them, as the Israelis had them surrounded and were bombarding them. Yada yada new government installed in Lebanon, we stick around to keep the peace, new leader assassinated and 241 Marines and 55 French soldiers killed in suicide bombings, that Iran was found to be behind, and Reagan cut and ran and the PLO lived to fight another day. Osama Bin Laden said our withdrawal from Lebanon was proof that the United States was a paper tiger and had no stomach for a fight. There is a memorial to the suicide bombers in Tehran.

I've noticed even the liberal press is more open about scrutinizing Harris's apparent ineptness. So I don't think she's the wo-"man for the job", at least it would be pretty brief.

They're both 100% handled, but amazingly I think she can't hack it even with total handling. And the handlers knows this now, too.

When a US politician arrives, they announce the general areas where they will be located, so it won't be attacked.

This was done for Ukraine, various world leaders "visited" but it was to essentially slow down or stop attacks. If you have a US Senator on the ground and then they are tragically killed by Hamas rockets, how does that play out? Now America has to go to war. 

Biden can go to several places, and essentially "safeguard" them by simply showing up. Also POTUS arriving allows for operational cover for other military assets to show up. "They are additional assets to protect the President"  OK, no one really believes that, but it works. 

Finally Biden is getting dragged through the mud here domestically in terms of his failed administration. It allows for a change of narrative, at least for a short while, from both the national and international daily media cycles.
