Gladiators 1,914 Posted August 25, 2017 Do you want it for therapeutic benefits, or just social? There are a lot of hot tubs manufacturers that put a ton of jets in as their selling point. These are fine if you're going to use it solely for social purposes. After doing research, I went with a 5-6 person Jacuzzi earlier this year. A lot more expensive, but I purchased it for the therapeutic benefits...my back was focked up at the time. I'm not at home and can't remember which model I got. titans&bucs&bearsohmy! 2,745 Posted August 26, 2017 There was a time when I wanted one but now it just seems so creepy. Inviting friends over and asking them You wanna get in the hot tub? It's like asking someone if they want to take a bath with you. First house I bought had one on the back deck. I loved that thing. Rigged some speakers out there. Most days when I got home from work, I'd sit in it and drink and smoke weed. And if you're single, it's money when girls come over. Easy deal closer. Of course after a year the motor died, and I didn't want to spend the money to fix it, so it just became a sh!tty eyesore.
SUXBNME 1,362 Posted August 26, 2017 I used to spend hours upon hours on my days off in the hot tub reading, eating, playing video games on occasion (ask gypsybrat about that one.. lol), pretty much anything one could do in it, I did it. Even took a life vest from my boat at the time and wore it in the tub for sleeping / napping purposes. Fact.

Scary Gary 19 Posted November 21, 2017 Looking for suggestions on manufacturers and options for a new hot tub. Must be an out door type though, no room in the trailer house for one. Prolly a 4 to 6 person. No time machine needed. Northern Vike....here is what I know... I bought a 4-5 person one from Hot Springs Spas in Fargo, ND about 3 years ago. (that's where I'm from) Paid $11K. Salt Water 450 Gallons 4-5 person I think? I think its the Vanguard model. Costs about $30-$40 a month for electricity. I keep it at 104 degrees. We use it 4-5 times a week in the fall and winter. 30 below its fine. The Salt System was more expensive. Supposedly better for your skin and easier to maintain. I wanted easy to maintain, didn't care about the skin part. Our skin isn't sensitive. After having it for a few years...2 things I'd change. 1.) I'd go with CHLORINE model. Supposedly harder to maintain as to get all the readings "exact" vs the saltwater. Well, I've figured out, they don't need to be exact...at all. My findings show the salt water one is more finicky. There is something called a "salt cell" in a saltwater tub. That can go to hell if you don't have the readings (litmus test, hard water test, etc) fairly close to "normal". From Hot Springs, they are $700. I found an aftermarket one that works perfect and it is $150. Chlorine models, you basically just need to add a dose of chlorine if the water smells off in any way, and you are good to go. If the other readings aren't perfect, not a big deal. You might get dry skin. Actually, we started adding chlorine to our saltwater tub periodically. I like the smell of chlorine, and like it's germ killing benefits. So....chlorine is the way I'd go if I did it again. 2.) I'd buy one from Sams Club (or Costco if they have them). Sam's Club doesn't sell junk. They aren't Walmart. (Neither does Costco). I've figured out, over the years, that if Costco or Sams has a product, and you want it, get it there, as you can search high and low, and likely not find an apples to apples as good of value. I've looked at their hot tubs (after I bought from Hot Springs) Just as good of warranty (better actually), just as many jets and other features, just much insulation, just as many gallons, just as much of everything, sometimes more jets, more features, etc..........but 50%-60% of the cost of one from Hot Springs. I would though, double check to see if the Sam's Club one is good to 30 below. It should be...but double check. I guess that is one thing I didn't check.
