wiffleball 4,640 Posted October 17, 2014 I'm not talking about invisibility or super powers, just basic ordinary stuff that you can't do, but would like to be able to do. For me, I'm thinking whistling with my fingers on either side of my mouth. I can not do that for the life of me. I can whistle by folding my tongue back against the roof of my mouth, but that's not nearly as loud or long. Also, it seems like my Dad's generation was really good at bad-ass whistling. You know, entire tunes, melodies, harmonies - like Sinatra, Gene Kelly, Bing Crosby, etc. that's a lost art.

That's because they were all so poor back then, if they weren't born boys they would have had nothing else to play with. Does dancing count? MTSkiBum 1,594 Posted October 17, 2014 I am tone-deaf. Because of this I cannot appreciate music. And I definitely can't sing. I am so bad I would be guaranteed a spot on American Idol. It would be nice to hear the same music that everyone else hears.
parrot 789 Posted October 17, 2014 I finally learned to do the two fingered whistle just a couple years ago. I would fock around with it driving back and forth from work and one day it just worked. I have no musical ability. I would like to be able to play some guitar, or maybe even piano. Maybe some day I will get around to learning. Probably not, but maybe.

Maybe some day I will get around to learning. Probably not, but maybe. I never picked up an instrument until I was in my late 30's. When my little brother came to stay with me in Dallas, he showed me some basic guitar stuff, and I eventually got pretty good at it. I'm no shredder, but I can hold my own. It does take lots of patience and practice but it's so much easier to learn now with YouTube.

naomi 343 Posted October 17, 2014 In community college I took a cardio-kickboxing class where you have 30+ people in front of a long mirror covered wall. I stuck it out but even at the end I was still out of sync. At four year I tried ballroom dance and shared with the instructor my retardation at mimicking physical movements. He was really persistent and said he had seen a few of those types in his time, and most of them DO get better. I wound up giving up because my male equal (so my most frequent dance partner) was a Japanese student studying abroad who was very tall, incredibly stiff and incredibly quiet. It was like trying to dance with a robot who towers over you. We both sucked in ways that meant we couldn't help each other, and I sensed that every dance was an intensely uncomfortable experience for him, like he had a gun pointed at his head making him do it. jerryskids 5,206 Posted October 17, 2014 Not sure it is a talent per se, but I'd like to be more flexible. I've done taekwondo for a long time but am horribly inflexible naturally. Joints, ligaments, tendons, even muscles (although those do improve with effort). Years of stretching and yin yoga haven't resulted in any permanent improvement. MDC 5,891 Posted October 17, 2014 Probably not an ordinary talent, but I am a big fan of martial arts movies and I would love to be really good at any martial art, preferably something sort of unusual like wushu, capeioera, judo etc. I have a lot of common talents like writing, drawing, used to make music etc but I've always been a jack of all trades, master of none type. These days I'd live to be an ace manager or salesman but sadly I'm still a novice at everything. At least I'm good in the sack. Just ask your mom.
