He thinks being a liberal makes him a better person. Not a better version of himself, but better than you. He has a lot invested in that, more than he does his religion.

This guy ended with “make your case!” as if The Geek Club is a court of law. Dude, news flash. You’re just being persuaded by the headline of the day. Like a moth to a flame. Zero respect for some of you. I feel like I’m watching my middle school kids play cards.

Anyone else heard about this charity? Over the years we've had a lot of spirited discussions about our medical system and people who can't afford it. We may disagree on solutions but I think we can have somewhat universal agreement that the problem exists. So, I read this story about this charity: https://apnews.com/article/casey-mcintyre-rip-medical-debt-cfbe340f71e74a68425d0d479322b15b Which got me doing some research on this charity: https://ripmedicaldebt.org/ https://www.cbsnews.com/news/rip-medical-debt-forgiving-medical-debt/ https://www.charitynavigator.org/ein/471442997 tldr - This charity uses debt collection practices to purchase medical debt for pennies on the dollar and then, instead of going after people for the amount of the debt, just cancels it. They also have the debt removed from the person's credit report. They claim to purchase $100 of debt for every $1 contributed. And the beneficiary receives a letter from the charity letting them know the debt has been canceled. What an amazing charity. As with a lot of things in life, I am always skeptical of charities. But this one and the V foundation both seem legit to me.

He’s actually very libertarian from what I understand: Which, if true, means that whatever his personal opinion on social issues like abortion and LGBT, he won’t attempt to impose them on others. That would distinguish him considerably from the majority of American far right conservatives. But we’ll see if that is true.

First they get rid of Hamas. Second, a State of Palestine that is capitalist in nature. I believe that capitalism is the key to prosperity. Third, the United States develops nuclear fusion. I know I keep bringing this up in threads that have nothing to do with it, but consider: we are on the edge of developing a technology that will mean that a whole city can be powered by the energy produced in a single glass of water. That will change literally EVERYTHING- every physical need of people around the world, from food to shelter to transportation to leisure time will be incredibly cheap. All of the conflicts the world faces, including this one, will be completely altered. The mullahs of Iran, for example, will no longer have petroleum money to fund terrorism: oil will be worthless. The mullahs and the wealthy Saudis will go away, but the Arab people, not just the Palestinians, will have incredible prosperity that we can’t imagine now, as will the rest of the world. Sounds like a dream doesn’t it? But it’s within our reach within 20-30 years if we’re only willing to do it.

Probably correct. Let them roll on this topic, in two weeks they’ll run away like kryptonite. Sometimes it’s better to just let them post and dig deeper. Hilarious.

He is antisemite because a tweet he supported was not specific enough and could be interpreted in broader terms? Good lord, you two sets of standards is ridiculous. Musk does not have an antisemite bone in his body.

Enough. Go back and read through the thread. If you still believe I’m wrong about this whatever. I question your credibility.

Musk is making these arguments, and people here are defending Musk.

OK for the sake of clarity, let’s start over: 1. A poster at X, known to be an anti-Semite and white supremacist, tweeted the following: The Jewish people have been pushing the exact kind of dialectical hatred against whites that they claim to want to stop people using against them. Elon Musk retweeted this and added the comment: You have spoken the absolute truth. This is what I am objecting to. This is what makes me think Elon Musk must be an anti-Semite. Not some Media Matters report, not some ADL accusation, but the fact that Musk regards the idea that the Jewish people are pushing hatred against whites as “the absolute truth.” There doesn’t appear to be any context that could justify these remarks though I am open to hearing them. So if you disagree with my conclusion that Musk is an anti-Semite, make your case.

I’ve acknowledged that the majority of Palestinians are sympathetic to Hamas. I didn’t need this poll; I could have predicted it. Did you know that, in 1969, the majority of college students in the USA were sympathetic to the North Vietnamese? Because they wanted an end to the war. But they had no idea how evil the Communists really were, despite the overwhelming evidence. They didn’t want to know.

For dramatic affect, the story should've mentioned that he's 51 years old. Wonder if he's still 'smokes' ? If he gave it up, maybe he could hang out with snoop.
