Sho Nuff 720 Posted November 11, 2014 I've already cut back to about twice a week but a dry January just seems impossible with the NFL Playoffs. Yeah...if I had an issue, Id probably do it. But, seeing that I drink maybe once or twice a week...and that is just a couple or 3 glasses of bourbon or a few beers while watching the Packers...not really worrying about it. I do give it up for Lent from time to time. Gets tough during March Madness or Fantasy Baseball drafts...but Ive made it through at least twice before. IGotWorms 4,062 Posted November 11, 2014 I've already cut back to about twice a week but a dry January just seems impossible with the NFL Playoffs. February you have the super bowl March the NCAA tourney, which spills over into April May and June are the NBA/NHL playoffs. Then it's summer in July so you gotta have a few beers outside. August? TimmySmith 2,783 Posted November 11, 2014 I am not going into the fact that MDC is a welcher. But if the Eagles make the playoffs, I simply do not see this happening. (same if they don't, it's playoff time).
dain11279 980 Posted November 11, 2014 I can't think of a month where there isn't something going on that gives me a reason to drink. If that makes me an alcoholic, so be it
MDC 7,808 Posted November 11, 2014 Never do today what you can put off until January. There's no way I'm even thinking of going booze free through the holidays. If I fail I will admit it here. But my plan is no alcoholic beverages for a month. I will report on all my DTs, shakes and violent outbursts on a daily basis. I see Frank is in, any other lashes want to take the plunge? KSB2424 3,172 Posted November 11, 2014 You should live to drink, not drink to live. Drinking should be to celebrate something or make an event more fun. On your birthday or anniversary dinner with the wife buy a bottle of wine and enjoy. After a promotion at work or at a holiday party, partake with a nice cocktail or two and enjoy. On the golf course with buddies, knock back a couple beers, tell some old war stories and enjoy. But that is about it; thats socially drinking alchohol. If you are at home on a Tuesday taking shots by yourself or just pounding beers, then that's an issue. You are drinking to live. It might be time for some self awareness. dain11279 980 Posted November 11, 2014 I'll have a beer at home maybe once a week. The majority of my drinking is in a social setting. Big whoop if it's all of the other 6 days. Thanks for making me feel better about myself KSB
Mungwater 597 Posted November 11, 2014 I drink more than I should, but some folks are taking it to a whole other level. I probably drink a little less than MDC. I'd be seriously worried about my liver and kidneys if I drank as much as bunny and shots

It might be time for some self awareness. Crack a beer after getting the kid to bed to drink with some dinner... Maybe one more after dinner with a show... Growing up my father always had 2 beers every night. They were macro brew light beers. Now that he is retired he drinks alot more.
5-Points 3,746 Posted November 11, 2014 I usually have a couple of beers and a bottle of wine a night during the week. That is spread out over 5 or 6 hours. I couldn't drink like shotsup or bunny and still be productive at work. Just had some blood work done and all's well. Liver is good but my triglycerides are a little elevated. Doc said I should cut back but didn't use the q word.

BunnysBastatrds 2,580 Posted November 11, 2014 There is no way I could quit drinking and live in New Orleans. I will have to move and that's not happening. There is always something going on here. Holidays, Mardi Gras (two weeks), Jazz Fest (two weeks), Gretna Fest, Saints, Pelicans, LSU, four St. Patrick parades, running with the bulls, red dress run, going to the French Quarter, festivals throughout the state, fishing at friends fishing camps, parties at bars and friends houses, going to Destin FL for Easter and Labor Day weekend, weddings, funerals, concerts on the river, great restaurants, great golf tournament scrambles, and more. All involve drinking. And it is all spread out through the year. I'm amazed and have a deep respect for the people who do quit and stay here.

Or he traveled somewhere else but ultimately his home base was New Orleans, so drinking mandatory
BunnysBastatrds 2,580 Posted November 11, 2014 But he was physically in New Orleans so of course he had to drink My point was that if I wanted to quit drinking it would be impossible to do so here. It's everywhere and all the time. They have drive up bars here. Drive up bars? When you go to a 7/11 or any convenience store here, they have bins of ice cold sixteen ounce single beers that they put in a nice brown bag for your ride home. You leave a bar here, you get a go cup. It's everywhere and very easily accessible.
listen2me 23 1,947 Posted November 12, 2014 Im 26 and I would bet that I havent taken off more than a week and a half since I was 16. I was honestly debating if I was an Alcoholic at a young age. Before I was 19. But seems like after the college ages I just suddenly slowed down. I still get drunk once a week. But have no real desire to get plowed on a week night like I did before. I used to be able to shake a hangover fine with more alcohol thr next am. Only thing Id look into quitting for a set amount of time is the weed. Obviously to lower my tolerence back down. I quit for 15 days when offered a job right before the holidays. Thank god they said my screen was in 2 weeks. I quit on the spot for that time and rid my semi fat body of thc by freaking out and exercising like a weirdo. It worked. Didnt want to mess with any sort of foreign piss or gadgets. But we all knoe I toked when I came home from said test. Tolerence nice and lowered.

But we all knoe I toked when I came home from said test. Tolerence nice and lowered. If they told you the screen was in two weeks, they were basically saying that they didn't care if you smoked, but if you wanted the job you needed to quit for two weeks to pass the test. A friend of mine owns a mine in Alaska, up north near Fairbanks. It operates from thaw to freeze and they basically need to hire a new crop of nomads every year. Worms can perhaps confirm, but apparently the weed is strong up there. Anyway, because of their insurance with the heavy equipment, they needed applicants to pass a drug test. He said you wouldn't believe how many times he'd talk to a guy and say "hey, if you haven't smoked recently we can do the test now, but if you have let me know and we can do it in a few weeks." "No, no, I haven't been smoking$#!" So they'd do the test and the guy would massive fail.
listen2me 23 1,947 Posted November 12, 2014 I just brushed it off as they were looking to hire me on after the first of the year. I first contemplated alternate piss but said F that let me just stop for the 2 weeks. It was easier than I thought it would be. Ive turned into a daily smoker...I was thinking 2 weeks eould be tough and maybe wouldnt even be long enough to rid myself. At that point i was ready to keep smoking and try some method at the end like an idiot. It really is ridiculous how long weed takes to get out of your system while a guy can do an 8 ball of coke a couple days before and show up clean. But either way 2 weeks was more than enough time if you are any bit active. I guess only the 400lber chronic smokers have the month long stories. I studied how thc leaves the body and how to make the process quicker more heavily than I did any exam for school haha. I was a little too worried but glad I was. So many myths out there that people try and end up failing. None of those goofy detox drinks do anything. Might as well just fo the dilution method and drink a lot of fluids before the test. Stoners be stupid.
