Baker Boy 1,489 Posted June 18, 2015 If she recognizes herself as black then we should see her as black. Her transition took alot of bravery and bigots who are fearful of transracials need to stop. She needs a barbara walters special so she can offiacialy "come out" and be embraced by the african american community like im sure she would be.MSNBCs Dyson Contends Blacks Consider Rachel Dolezal More Black Than Clarence Thomas - See more at: http://newsbusters.org/blogs/jeffrey-meyer/2015/06/16/msnbcs-dyson-implies-rachel-dolezal-more-black-clarence-thomas#sthash.10FzxVQE.dpuf ----------------------------------- I Sometimes Don't Want to Be White Either http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ali-michael/i-sometimes-dont-want-to-be-white-either_b_7595852.html?ncid=tweetlnkushpmg00000051 Rachel Dolezal is a fascinating case study in White racial identity development.* She is stuck in the immersion/emersion stage, in which White people, having learned extensively about the realities of racism, and the ugly history of White supremacy in the U.S., "immerse" themselves in trying to figure out how to be White in our society, and "emerge" with a new relationship to Whiteness. Only in the case of Dolezal, her way of dealing with the pain of the reality of racism, was to deny her own Whiteness and to become Black. She is an extreme example of a common phenomenon. The "immersion" stage is typified by White people taking more responsibility for racism and privilege and often experiencing high levels of anger and embarrassment for racism and privilege, which they sometimes direct towards other Whites. They sometimes try to immerse themselves in communities of color, as Dolezal did. She's not alone. I definitely experienced this. There was a time in my 20s when everything I learned about the history of racism made me hate myself, my Whiteness, my ancestors... and my descendants. I remember deciding that I couldn't have biological children because I didn't want to propagate my privilege biologically. If I was going to pass on my privilege, I wanted to pass it on to someone who doesn't have racial privilege; so I planned to adopt. I disliked my Whiteness, but I disliked the Whiteness of other White people more. I felt like the way to really end racism was to feel guilty for it, and to make other White people feel guilty for it too. And then, like Dolezal, I wanted to take on Africanness. Living in South Africa during my junior year abroad, I lived with a Black family, wore my hair in head wraps, shaved my head. I didn't want to be White, but if I had to be, I wanted to be White in a way that was different from other White people I knew. I wanted to be a special, different White person. The one and only. In this life I have found that you have exactly what you deserve, nothing more and nothing less. You work and you strive and you fight and you get the benefit, perhaps not in direct correlation in terms of timing or level of effort, but it comes back to you eventually. This notion of striving is absolutely lost. Find any 20 year old, they will be entitled little DB's, haven't earned sh!t but expect everything. Those who put forth effort, maybe fail....but keep at it, are the ones who gain while the others fall behind, cry, lament, point fingers everywhere....and the rest of us keep on moving... They are indeed more mobile and better capable of managing their finances due to in large part to their thrift.

But these kids have also grown up during a time when the economy was bad, they saw the how the excesses of the housing market nearly destroyed a global economy and are likely very sensitive and apprehensive. They are saving more, spending less and making far more sound decisions than many of the generations before them. They give me hope.

NewbieJr 540 Posted June 18, 2015 I'll go back to my original post. The fact the word transracial is being discussed is silly. For those who say there isn't a slippery slope for everything imaginable, they are fooling themselves. I bet in 50 years marrying your relative will be allowed based on someone being transincestual. We are on the way down the toilet bowl. Sad. You forgot marrying monkeys and wildebeasts. That as always a good one when trying to deny gay rights.

Baker Boy 1,489 Posted June 23, 2015 A white Ivy League professor has taken to the pages of the Huffington Post to condemn her own race, declaring that she chose never to reproduce because her children would simply inherit white privilege. Ali Michael, a professor at the University of Pennsylvania’s (Penn) Graduate School of Education, was prompted to write by the Rachel Dolezal saga, in which the head of Spokane’s NAACP branch was revealed to be a white woman who simply identifies as black and has assimilated into black culture. Dolezal’s aspiration to forsake whiteness and embrace a new race, Michael says, is actually a routine one among whites who are repulsed by the racism and privilege they see all around them. Michael says that, like Dolezal, she has gone through an extensive phase of trying to eradicate her whiteness (or as she calls it, Whiteness)– one so severe that she decided she didn’t want to reproduce. “I sometimes don’t want to be white either,” Michael says. “There was a time in my 20s when everything I learned about the history of racism made me hate myself, my Whiteness, my ancestors… and my descendants. Strike 4,012 Posted February 26, 2017 Guess she's gonna find out what it's really like to be black next month: Today Dolezal is jobless, and feeding her family with food stamps.
