Voltaire 4,564 Posted October 6, 2015 The time the RB was down by contact but followed through to the endzone and scored a TD. Gym Shorts threw the flag to challenge the call. Since it was a scoring play it was automatically reviewed. The refs decided that the play was now unreviewable since the flag was thrown on a play that was under review automatically and that instead of reviewing the play, Detroit would be charged a delay of game penalty. edjr 5,569 Posted October 6, 2015 Once it was close, I stayed up just to watch the Lions fock it up, some way, some how. I never thought that would be how they would fock it up. My chick was sitting there doing homework and the baby was sleeping and the dude punched it out of the end zone. I jumped up and said WTF he can't do that! I became a lions fan for a moment there. Fock my life.

Fock my life. I thought the same thing. 'He can't do that can he?' The announcers didn't say anything. It was such an obvious thing that I thought I must be wrong about the rule. Caldwell and the Lions didn't argue it either as far as I could tell. You know a guy like Belichick would have gone stopped the game to argue. And maybe the refs would come to their senses. edjr 5,569 Posted October 6, 2015 This is what truly makes the NFL laughable. 7 million and 7 months (which isn't even over) spent on air in a football and this they will just brush off. Something that DEFINITELY more probable than not, cost a team a win. focking laughable.

NewbieJr 540 Posted October 6, 2015 How is it that Seattle comes out smelling like a rose every time the refs blow a call? And with all the money at stake, plus the short NFL season making every game so important, isn't there something in place to prevent an official not knowing the rules from reversing the outcome of a game? Head of referees can't call the press box and get a message down to the game referee? Unreal. Seattle should be 1-3. This will end up getting them into the playoffs, I bet. I know they can't at this point. They already released a statement that the back judge knew the rule but in his opinion, it wasn't purposely batted out. 100% total bullsh1t, but there's no way they can come out and say that the dude didn't know the rule and it decided the game. Agree. Over the last 20 years or so this has become more and more of a thing, there has to be more to it. Pointing it out tends to elicit a visceral response of course, so that is an added protection.

vuduchile 1,941 Posted October 6, 2015 We all know the Lions are going nowhere this year, and I give them a 50/50 chance of being stuffed at the 6 inch line if they do get the ball back. But, it still sucks that the blown call had such an impact on the game.

joneo 529 Posted October 7, 2015 Fock this!!! First of all, I hate Seattle. The Lions lost fair and square. The defender had the following choices: 1. Grab the ball and kneel down. (result: Seattle ball at 20 yard line) 2. Try to grab the ball and fumble it out the end zone. ( result: Seattle ball at 20 yard line) 3. Grab the ball and have momentum carry him through the end zone. ( result: Seattle ball at 20 yard line) 4. Grab the ball and try to make a 99 yard return which could result in a fumble. ( He obviously didn't want to do that since he batted it out of the end zone) Regardless, Calvin Johnson fumbled and the end scenario came to fruition: The Lions lost. / of discussion! Djgb13 2,338 Posted October 7, 2015 I'm no referee but I could have told you that was illegal even if I didn't know the exact name of what it was. As a professional referee in the NFL you should know ALL the rules. The fact that this ref is now saying he didn't believe it was intentional is a flat out lie. No way looking at that is it not intentional.
