Recommended Posts

Anyone here doing Christmas lights or a Christmas tree this year? Usually we do a Christmas tree but I never put Christmas lights up on our house. Might end up doing it this year though

Probably would make sense. Except he fact that I doubt you could afford them

I think this year I'm gonna do lights. Only they are going to be those net lights you toss over the bushes. Just gonna grab a couple of those and throw them over the bushes in front of my house and call it a day

Yes to both. Are you also buying Christmas presents this year? In my family we put the presents underneath the Christmas tree.

Nothing outside, but I some how need to find a way to get a tree. My son is 17 and I need a tree for his last two years of school, but no focking funds.

FAIL as a parent. :bench:

Have you tried Craigslist or let it go? You could prob find a tree on there for cheap

 Nope, I have not tried them. I was just going to get a 20 dollar tree at the Dollar General, but they are pretty awful. I do not need anything spectacular, just something a little better than that.

Well totally do that. :D Then again those are the only trees in the front yard.

No tree this year. It is old and beat up and my wife hates it, plus we are heading to visit my in-laws at Vero on the 21st so we won't be here on Christmas.

That's not a bad idea, and maybe wrap them in colorful paper or something, you know, to keep everyone in suspense until Christmas morn'.

We had to buy a new tree this year. I threw the old one I had in Texas away because we didn't have room to bring it. Plus it was a couple years old and I wanted a new one anyway. Like doing the fake trees instead of the real ones. A lot easier. Maybe when me and my wife decide to have kids I might do a real on but for now the fake one works excellent

Just got the tree (always real) and lights up yesterday before the snow hit. I don't go crazy with the outdoor lights, just throw some of those light nets over the bushes and have a couple of lighted reindeers.

Well, I hope it doesn't get too crazy. I'd hate to think stores would get extra busy and have to hire more people or stay open late just to handle the demand.

I'm going to end up with one of those lawns at my current pace of lights and blowup frostys and shite.

Why not just go to Lows and get a real tree, you can get a Frazier Fur 6-7footer for $40 bucks

I actually got a real one the other day. First time ive ever had a real one myself or growing up. I actually think it is easier. You have to keep it watered but as far as putting it up? Much easier. I always remember growing up helping put up a 7 foot fake one...go ip in the attic and haul the 60lb box down. Get all the branches out and stick them all in the post. Arrange each branch so there are no holes. Take down. Put all certain length branches together. Haul back up.

Real tree. Buy. Put in stand. Screw it. Grab throw out in front lawn. The city picks thrm up for free. Way easier.

The wife handles putting everything up. I only have to get the boxes down from the attic. We only have the net for the bushes and one of those projector things that flashes different color lights onto the facade of the house. You stare at it too long and someone is going to be grabbing your tongue so you don't swallow it. Major stroke inducer

He might have forty bucks- but he doesn't have forty bucks for a tree.

Well then, here is a great opportunity for the Geek Club collective to help a fellow Geekster out. Lets pool together and get $100.00 for him to get a tree/stand and decorations. I'll kick in $40, anyone else interested? We can just send it directly to Gary

I mean if y'all really do that I don't mind putting in some. My office gave money to a guy who works here that just lost his 18 year old son. He was out of work for about a month cause he was up at duke the whole time and will be out of work for another couple of weeks. Never been opposed to helping people out especially around the holidays

I really appreciate that, but I can not do a real tree. I have pets for one thing. Plus, way too paranoid of it catching on fire.

Again, THANKS, I really appreciate the offer man.

Gary- go cut a focking tree.

Find a 4 ft cedar or something.

HAHA. We just had a story here where someone cut one down on someone's property and it turned out to be some tree they planted when they lost their minor child. So can't do that either. Plus, I can't do a real tree anyway.
