Anyone notice how the U.S is becoming "USA vs Anti-USA", right here in the U.S? ?

because it sucks

Pure socialism doesn't work, nor does pure capitalism. But there are many countries with expanded social programs (more "socialist" than the US) which do OK. :dunno:

Its always an odd time to introduce and promote Socialism, but why on earth would anyone try it when the economy is focking booming.

Just to answer your question academically.

1. Some of the worst purchasing power in our country's history.

2. Rampant income inequality.

Pull the statistics if this is direction This Thread wants to go in. You'll find the top 1% owns the 99% of income blah blah blah. Because of the new tax plan, stock BuyBacks a huge which is making the 1% even more Rich. Etcetera.

I'm just answering the question. Way too much stuff in this thread causing me to bang my head against the wall.

Which ones? If you mention the ones I THINK you're going to respond with, you better believe that these countries vehemently deny being Socialist as they are portrayed by the left.

sorry lefties, the right is always the side that has been pro military, and the left has always been anti military. That by definition will always make conservatives the patriots in this fight

You know who also consider themselves Patriots? Timothy McVeigh. Che Guevara. Fidel Castro. Benedict Arnold. Robert Hansen. Want me to keep going?

Might want to aim for a different standard.

This century, most people who identify themselves as Patriots couldn't tell you how many senators there are in the country. Hell, they couldn't tell you how many there are in their own States. Much less their names.

Absolutely stunning after all we've seen so far this Century alone that there are still people who just desperately need white hats and black hats. That's just about as much as their minds can handle.

Get 'er done!

Jesus, look at trumps own History. It's a very public history as he can't keep his fuking waffling opinions to himself.

Most of his past positions are a lot more Democratic than Republican. But Barry pissed him off. Hell, he sees the GOP as a means to an end not a philosophy. You guys can't be stupid enough to think otherwise. The motherfawker would run as a God damn Quaker if he thought it would get him into office easier and quicker.

but I'm sorry, I interrupted your spirited debate over who is the most patriotic of the Patriotic Patriots here. Go on.

its easier to have heavy social programs when you don't have to defend the entire world

but lets talk about some of those programs, I think Denmark its 180% tax to buy a new car, so very few people own cars. Basically forced public transportation

Sweden you pay up to 22% of your income to healthcare taxes alone, and you still could wait 90 days for a visit, not to mention they don't develop any new medicine

I pay enough of the money I earn to everyone else, quit trying to take more, if you want to give more feel free, I am sure some charity for vegan trannies needs some aids medicine

I heard something a while ago that I thought was pretty darn interesting. And maybe that's a little bit of perspective. Or not. But I could see why and how it could impact an entire generation.

Do you realize that this is the first upcoming election where an entire generation of voting-age adults were born into war(s) that continues to this day?

I would think that would damn sure have to inform your mindset a bit.

Regardless, it's an interesting observation.

You know, you may be right. The thought crossed my mind even as I was typing above. But still, as warlike as our country is, Hard to believe that this is the first generation like that.

Anti-socialism hysteria is based on fears on what the US will become if we expand our social/government programs for welfare, health care, etc. I don’t think anyone believes we will go so far as China, NoKo, Cuba and a handful of other sh!thole countries which have embraced full blown totalitarian governments.

So to answer your question, most of Northern Europe, New Zealand and Canada are far more socialist than the US, yet their citizens still enjoy a quality of life as good as the US.

Those people might...but the majority of the right will tell you straight out those people are evil focktards that deserve to die. (I don't know who a couple of them are...but...I get your point)

The left though, if they have someone climb the Statue Of Liberty and Yell "fawwwwk you America" or some NFL Fock on using the flag as a way to get their point across about _______ (the players themselves don't even know what point they are trying to get across)...the left will justify it. The left will preach what their leaders (CNN, Dem Pres Candidate) preach. Like sheep or lemmings. They stick together better than the right. I'll give them that.

I feel like a lot of Republicans support for America is of the lapel pin / fake patriotism / jingoistic variety. For example the POTUS is a draft dodger who spent a career screwing over small businesses, offshoring jobs and attacking the military service of actual vets, and somehow people think of him as a patriot.

Um, that's because he's doing things that are GOOD for the Country unlike all of the Presidents since Reagan.

I guess it's a matter of perspective. There's a hell of a lot of folks who parrot everything Hannity or Jones or whomever has to say. Ask yourself, how many people were using the expression fake News until Trump started doing so?

Did the entire right-leaning FBI and intelligence community all shift radically to the left as soon as Trump took office?

point being, there are sheep on both sides. Whether you are middle left or middle right you tend to look at the fringes and think they're all lunatics.

Again, just answering your question academically. If you were really interested, there are plenty of lists out there to answer that can be question. But top of the head, education, postnatal mortality, life expectancy, crime rates, wellbeing, environment, Etc

The one thing Americans just absolutely don't seem to understand is the concept of and power of the military-industrial complex.

It's not a zero-sum game kids.

For example, let's say that America has a bucket of one trillion dollars to spend.

We have no problem spending a trillion dollars in corporate welfare. But the idea of taking even a portion of that for healthcare drives some people absolutely frothing-at-the-mouth insane.

But if we took a hundred million dollars of that and still gave 900 million dollars in corporate welfare? Would that really be so bad?

Our current system really boils down to the trickle-down system. Sprinkle from the top and water eventually makes it down all the way to the bottom of the soil.

Unfortunately, the fact that 98% of America's wealth is held by 2% of America's population tells us that system just ain't getting it done.

And the whole idea of he who works hardest gets the most money? Seriously? When corporate CEOs are getting 80000 X the average of one of their employees? Hard to argue that systems working either.

I'm just laying the case out there. Somewhere there's a better system than we have. Anybody who would argue that a system like ours couldn't and wouldn't benefit from some intelligent tweeks is just being unreasonable.

Why isn't it registering with you that lots of republicans hate Trump? You do realize he won because democrats and independents, in key states, voted for him, right? Please tell me that after all this time you know that.

I would like to see Welfare dismantled. Shrink social programs instead of expanding them.

And no fooking way do I want government controlled healthcare. They corrupt and ruin everything they touch.

That's how it always starts out. Then you end up like Venezuela, Cuba, and the rest. History has proven that what you believe will happen with Socialism and what actually happens with Socialism are a night and day difference.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions - Socialism is the perfect example of that. Socialism has a 100+ million body count in the 20th century alone. That should be MORE than enough for people to stay as far away from it as possible.

And yet, we have people thinking their version of Socialism will work this time. Pro-tip: It won't. History has proven it numerous times. Your version isn't any better than Stalin's, Mao's, Castro's or the Khmer Rouge's.

So you dismiss a country that has thrived under socialism for 100+ years.... by saying it only starts out well, before you inevitably end up like a country that has struggled under a socialist regime of about 20 years.

I don't know if your opinion is correct or incorrect, but your reasoning is a bit illogical.

That's a mischaracterization of the argument.

It isn't that 'intelligent tweaks' wouldn't always be welcome.

It is the nature of how you or anyone else chooses to define 'intelligent'.

Socialism is one of the instances where those that support it refuse to take any of the failures into account and only the successes.

You want socialism? You need an almost perfect society. You first need to stop the uncontrolled breeding of the losers of society. You cannot have stupid people because they will drain the bank. You have to control the fatties as well. Their health problems are a drain. Only then will it work.

You won't stop sex from occurring. Probably ought to push for abortion to be cheaper, more accessible, and even encourage it for large swaths of society.

Implementing socialistic policies does not need to be all-encompassing. It can and should be a continuum. There are some elements I appreciate, but also recognize that doing it properly with a nation as large as ours would be a challenge. I would like to see healthcare move in that direction. Privatization of hc is harmful to society... illness should not result in bankruptcy, nor be financially crippling.

In high school I had a friend with duel citizenship (US/Swiss). At some point he had to go back and serve in their military. I like the concept of giving back to the nation to benefit from their services.

Ultimately I think the US will have a system that is more socialist, I think that is natural with automation.. but why does it have to be forced and why can't it just happen naturally?
