tubby_mcgee 691 Posted October 21, 2018 Why should you need an ID? What's with the all the restrictions? I mean, illegals should have the same rights as the rest of us. In fact, dems pushing for a new law in 2020 that would make it so that you get 1 vote per EBT dollar you spend.

DonS 3,096 Posted October 21, 2018 Serious question: what type of ID is required to collect welfare benefits? If an ID is required for that then that takes away the argument against IDs suppressing poor community vote.

kilroy69 1,026 Posted October 21, 2018 I never understood this. To me the only reason why you would want people with no ID voting is if you are encouraging voter fraud.
wiffleball 4,680 Posted October 21, 2018 One thing I'd like to get rid of is this nonsense of the expired ID. What pain in the ass this is. Look, that's still my fingerprints, that's still my face, that's still my SSN STFU p with your expired license crap. It's an unnecessary hassle and a money grab by various state agencies. Look, you're already required 2 change your address if you move. That's the Law already on the books. And, for driving you? Sure, I support some sort of expiry date. But the problem is, the system we have right now is bullshiit. There should be an expiry date at 60 and five years every step after that. But as far as the day-to-day stuff that requires some sort of photo ID? You should be issued one at whatever age and it's good for life. For example, in this age of uber, there are far and far fewer drivers. Somebody shouldn't be precluded from flying to see their sick family member because their driver's license is 2 months expired. And sure as hell, the one that really pisses me off? Don't preclude people from going into bars when you know perfectly well that you have proof of age right there. The birthday hasn't changed for fucksake. Neither have the biometrics nor the photo. I think this would solve a lot of problems. Problem is? Once you let your driver's license lapse, it takes ID to get ID. Usually at least two or three different pieces of ID. so it's not as simple as running down to the DMV and getting a new one. But I fully support that there should be a lifetime card and a requirement to show that life time card when you vote. And while we're at it kids? We're pretty much the only country that has the SSN. Especially as this magic number that controls everything from birth. Especially our credit laws are particularly effed-up compared to other countries. But that's a whole nother thread.

Djgb13 2,338 Posted October 21, 2018 Theres no reason not to require it. Only thing it does it keep illegals from voting and cuts down on voter fraud. Ensures that actual US citizens vote. Oh it keeps illegals from having a voice? Well it should. They arent owed anything. That would be like me going over to France and voting on their election.

wiffleball 4,680 Posted October 21, 2018 In college I gave my expired ID to a friend tat was 20 so he could go into bars. Other than his hair he looked nothing like me. It worked for him every time. So you can remember when to vote just not when to renew your driver's license? Just renew your focking ID if you want to vote. So let me see if I got this straight. You have no problem facilitating identity fraud that, among other things, could lead to death and is clearly illegal. But, you have a problem with actual people using their actual ID with their actual information on it to vote. You realize the expiration dates are purely arbitrary right? Some girl 5 years, some 10, some three, someone. And the biggest driver of that? Isn't public safety. It's Revenue. Sorry, in my morality, facilitating underage people to drink using a fake ID when they don't have the skills nor wherewithal necessarily to handle their liquor and could go on to hurt themselves or others way trumps somebody using their actual identifying data points to do something as innocuous as vote. Everyday and twice on Sunday. And, as to your incredibly stupid so you can remember to vote but not to renew your ID? Well yeah, fucknuts. One of them is splashed all over the news. Want to guess which one?
