On top of that, he would have been way to young to be put in Force Recon, which is some intense training even before you're assigned to a unit - like months and months of training. There are so many other courses you need to pass before you can even qualify to sign up (if any spots are even open). So that puts his timetable even FURTHER out. He would have had to have been the best recruit EVER in the history of the Marines to get in that young. On top of THAT, there are only a few spots open to join Force Recon - it's not something you can just sign up for on a whim. He would have had to pass up more senior and more qualified Marines to even get that spot to begin with.

Correct. But also keep in mind that Recon has two sides, and he could have been on the support side.....though not actually a performing individuals within a team. he might try to frame it that way to make it seem like he was more involved than he really was.
