It's going to get to the point pretty soon where I've know more people who have tested positive than people who haven't. Almost all have recovered with few or no issues. My uncle went to the ER when he had it but ended up fine. I lost a friend and my grandmother but just about every death I know of had underlying conditions already. FlyinHeadlock 459 Posted November 2, 2020 The PPR test is way too sensitive from experts I have listen to. It's picking up the virus in such tiny amounts that it has no way of getting anyone sick or being transmitted. Everyone for example has cancer. It's not going to kill the majority but we all have cancer in some form or most of us. So what. The same could be done for cancer. Look at all the cases of cancer...blah blah. We don't do that for cancer or any other disease on this level.

The quick spread of COVID is what makes it more worrisome. Mass amounts of people getting sick at once is a problem.

Looks like there has been since about the beginning of October - https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/usa/iowa/ Compared to the summer, average daily deaths are up in literally every state surrounding Iowa as well - Wisconsin, Minnesota, Missouri, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, even slightly in Illinois. Testing positive is not a death sentence and most that do test positive do not get sick or have the ability to transmit it since the amount found is not enough to matter. If that was the case the people getting sick and deathly ill would be sky high. It's not. Only thing sky high is the cases.

Ok. The stats are still garbage. Have been from the beginning, everywhere. You can choose to live by them. The way that this has been handled and reported have taken reasonable people like me and made them skeptics. And I do wear the mask and take the recommended precautions. But it’s obvious the whole thing was botched, notably the stats.
nobody 2,694 Posted November 2, 2020 I used to think hospitalizations were a good metric to track for the severity of a covid outbreak, but one thing I've realized over this pandemic is hospitals essentially manufacture business. If they have room to put you in the ICU, they'll justify it somehow and put you there to make money. They want to keep their beds at capacity, and if that means admitting people who don't really need to be admitted they'll do that. A better stat may be people on ventilators. FlyinHeadlock 459 Posted November 2, 2020 Hospitals are a business. Being at capacity is a good thing for them unfortunately. More money means better equipment, hiring better doctors, nicer facilities, high salaries, fight lawsuits easier. Why would they want lower capacity. Easiest way to do that is ramp up covid. Easy money.

It implies that it’s not so common as to where everyone knows someone who is keeling over dead or coughing up a lung. The only people I know who know someone who had it are those who lie about having it for attention. “Your so brave, tell me your story!”. But yes it’s real and people have died. About 1% of those infected and about 6-10% of the reported number. If the news reported every flu and pneumonia death every year they could sell panic for that too. Simple and it gets me a ton of sympathy if people believe it. I have right to believe or not believe any story I see on here.
