False.  In this case it does because it involves a potential government coverup.   In some other cases it’s because covid was, ya know, a novel virus, so there were a lot of things that weren’t 100% definite.

I think I brought it up in like 2 other threads, but again both were related to a prior post that someone else had made in relation to whatever that topic was about.   If you're so offended by that, I can stop, but you're acting like pretty much every thread in here doesn't get completely derailed in various different directions.

I don't parrot bullshit.  I'm not autistic but I am a math guy, I prefer looking at the data and drawing my own conclusions (such as the "Johns Hopkins Newsletter" which is what really prompted me to start posting in the GC).   The majority of the links I've posted here are to direct sources of data and studies.  Many here have no real argument so are relegated to arguing that the data itself is made up.

Yeah I think covid is a pretty important topic, ya know since it was a once in a century pandemic that was the primary reason we had the largest year over year change in total deaths since 1918.    I did vote for Trump, but I'm not really interested in talking much about politics or things like rainbow monkey costumes.   Covid shouldn't have been a political issue but it turned into one.   I do think Trump's handling of it contributed to him losing the election, but even though I thought there were definitely things Trump could have done differently, Biden didn't really inspire much confidence.  And Trump did help with getting the vaccines here.  It's unfortunate that some (not all) of his supporters are part (not all) of the reason more people in this country haven't been vaccinated though.

In the UK, most of the vulnerable population is vaccinated.  When most of a population is vaccinated, most of the "affected" are going to be vaccinated as well.  It's pretty simple stuff (well apparently not for the GC).  In the UK, the 7 day average daily deaths have been 30 or less since mid-April, compared to 1,200+ at the January peak. 

I like how the same people who a few months ago were saying "the tests are junk!!!" are now saying "look at the cases!!! the vaccines are worthless!!!"   Cases are certainly a worthwhile metric, but only because particularly pre-vaccine, there was usually a correlation between cases increasing and deaths increasing.   In the UK, cases have been increasing for 6+ weeks and are now the highest they've been since January.   Deaths have increased slightly, but are still incredibly low.  Sure it's possible they go up further, but without the vaccine we would have already seen a far larger increase by now - https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/uk/

Heck, even the "but the cases!!!" argument isn't really that good for some of these countries.  For example I've seen Israel used an example of this, yet their current rise in cases has brought them to about 500 daily, compared to over 8,000 at the January peak.  TOTAL covid deaths in the past month?  11. - https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/israel/

I agree this is a dumb statement.   But IMO you have to draw the line somewhere.   I'd say elementary school and below should never need to wear masks since most of the data show that they don't really even spread covid much.  I believe it's around 12 and above where they can spread it more although of course still don't usually get very sick if at all.   But I'd say even any mask requirements for middle & high school should be tied to covid prevalence in the local area.

Yup, tragic but still only about a 20k increase vs. 2019, so peanuts compared to the ~350k-400k covid deaths in 2020.
