Seeing a healthy toddler pulling on his mask while mom is fighting with him infuriates me to my core.  Seeing some idiot from my neighborhood in the grocery store meandering around while I know his wife is at home with Covid infuriates me.  I hate you all.  This Covid is not unlike the stomach flu or regular flu.  If you or a loved one is sick, keep your stupid azz at home its just being a good person and thinking of others.  The government mandates suck....yeah....telling grown adults they HAVE (by law) to stay home is not a workable message.  Ummmm.....how-a-bout we strongly encourage the masses to do things to mitigate spread all the while being completely transparent (looking at you Fauci) and stop fear mongering and more fact finding from the media?  Crazy talk I know.  Sometimes you attract more bees with honey than vinegar. 

Watching Australia and Germany disintegrate to a police state over this is eye opening and mind blowing.   It amazes me how quickly people will give up personal freedom, something men and women well before us fought and died for, so easily.  And a person reading that may laugh, but *change* like this normally isn't a speed boat making a sharp left turn....its a large Cruise Ship slowly but surely turning left whilst none of the passengers ever noticing. Until they hit the iceberg.

The ministry would not disclose where the incidents took place or who was involved.

“If you know of someone who has had more vaccine doses than recommended, they should seek clinical advice as soon as practicable,” Koornneef said.

Vaccinologist and associate professor Helen Petousis-Harris called the behavior “unbelievably selfish” and said it was taking advantage of someone in need of money, the New Zealand Herald reported.

“So this is definitely not recommended … we have no evidence as to what side effects somebody would have with this amount of vaccine.”

In October, Stuff reported that police were looking into reports that people were assuming other people’s identities to get vaccinated on their behalf.

At the time, a Ministry of Health spokesperson said that tightening identification processes for getting immunized could compromise their goal to vaccinate as many people as possible, and disproportionately create barriers to vaccination for people in vulnerable groups.

Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city, reopened many businesses including restaurants and nightclubs this month after more than three months in lockdown due to an outbreak of the delta variant of COVID-19. The city and country are now operating under a post-vaccination system in which unvaccinated people are largely unable to visit public venues.

The country is aiming to have 90% of its eligible population aged 12 and older vaccinated in each of its regions. Currently, the government has fully vaccinated 89% of the country as a whole, though some districts are lagging behind, delaying a total reopening and lifting of travel restrictions.

Correct.  As you point out, another part of the reason for his comment was because masks are more to protect people from the wearer.  And another thing we didn't know at the time was the number of people that could be infected and not know it.

False.  Masks help by about ~10% according to the largest randomized trial done on them.   They were never going to completely stop the spread, but they do help.

If you think +/-10% can be measured accurately and is worthwhile if accurate then there is nothing worth debating here.  But you know as well as I, the "so called" scientists have always stated within their "studies" that the "mask effect" might be the reason any benefit.

He said that on March 8, 2020.   I'm saying he thought there weren't that many cases at the time, so the likelihood of you running into someone with covid was low, hence "unnecessary" to wear a mask.   He also said they were more helpful to protect other people from the wearer, which is true, however we didn't know the extent of asymptomatic/presymptomatic infection.

The vaccine still works against infection, but not as well as against hospitalization/death.   The effectiveness against infection (pre-Omicron) was in the neighborhood of 60-80%.   So still pretty effective, but not going to stop it completely.

Most of the deaths in the US have been unvaccinated, and this of course includes January/February when the people that were dying had been infected before the vaccine was available to anyone (about 1/3 of the deaths in 2021 were in January/February).     Since March or so, Delta is another reason, which was more contagious and at least as deadly possibly moreso than earlier strains, but even still has killed largely the unvaccinated.

I just found out yesterday that a distant friend's younger brother passed away from covid.  He had been in the hospital since September and was waiting on getting a lung transplant.  He was in his mid 30's.  I don't know if he had any underlying conditions but it seems odd.

Wouldn't waiting for a lung transplant suggest an underlying condition, especially considering Covid is a respiratory disease?
