Feel free to be wary of people you don’t know, but I don’t know that deciding based on the color of their skin or even how they dress is the best way to let down your guard.

all I was doing was putting it in context, I spent 25 years dealing blackjack.  My prejudice (not racism or hatred) would set up how I talked to each person.  Prejudice simply means judging someone based on previous similar experiences

I agree that on a certain level there is a situational nature.  In Phoenix for instance there aren't a huge number of black people, and in my particular neighborhood, the ones I've known are doctors, realtors, pro athletes... But if I see a young black man wearing a jacket with no shirt, and pants around his ass, I'm crossing the street.  Also, you ignored my comment about male youths being let down and fathers abandoning their responsibilities.  I know it doesn't fit the liberal message so I understand.

I didn’t ignore it. It is definitely a problem. But the color of their skin isn’t the reason. It is stuff like not having strong role models and tons of other stuff. I know that doesn’t fit your racist message, so I understand. I love how people think throwing out the term “liberal” for anyone that disagrees with them is constructive. Labels don’t help, but it makes some people feel better about themselves, so good for you.

So, you matched how you talked to them based on how you thought they looked based on past experiences. Have you ever met a girl that you thought was a slut by the way she dressed and treated her differently than a girl dressed as a librarian?

I figured people in the service industry would talk to people based on how they were talked back to. I never realized that it only mattered how I was dressed. Interesting.

Labels like "racist," which used to mean something.  Now it means someone who understands statistics and, well, pretty much everything else you said.

Having lived in MA, I've gotta ask... do you have a lot of black people in your neighborhood?  No?  I'm shocked.  MA is one of those blue states that loves the idea of integration, except in their neighborhoods, since they typically have generations of like-colored people there.  Just keep the black people in Roxbury and similar places and put plenty of police around them to keep them under control.  But hey, I know that son of a rich black business owner, he doesn't scare me, we're integrated%$@

Racial Differences in Self Control

https://thealternativehypothesis.org/index.php/2016/06/11/racial-differences-in-self-control/

That article perfectly explains why there is so much crime in the black community and cites a number of different studies from numerous decades and they all come to the same conclusion. Your role model theory is played out and wrong.

-----

Now that we’ve reviewed the evidence on individual differences in self-control, let’s turn to race. The empirical evidence suggests that Whites have higher self-control than Blacks. Unfortunately, there is not enough good data on Asians to make a determination. Anyway, here are all the studies I could find which compared Blacks and Whites on an experimental measure of self-control:

Michel (1958) conducted the first ever marshmallow type experiment on a sample of 53 children aged 7-9 living in Trinidad. He found Black children had less self-control than Asian children.

Herzberger and Dweck (1978) looked at a sample of 100 4rth grade American school children and found that Blacks had lower self-control than Whites even after controlling for socio-economic status.

Warner and Pleeter (2001) took advantage of a semi-natural experiment which came about due to the military. In the mid 1990’s the U.S Government offered sufficiently experienced military personnel two options when they retired: they could take a large lump sum of money now or agree to get a yearly payment from the military for the rest of their lives which, over time, would add up to far more than the lump sum. Warner and Pleeter were able to find data on the choices of 66,000 individuals and found that Blacks were 15% more likely than non-Blacks to take the lump-sum while White were .4% less likely than non-Whites to take the lump-sum. The differences between 15% and .4% implies that, in this sample, Asians  probably had  higher self control than Whites.

Wany, Rieger, and Hens (2011) utilized a sample of 5,291 university students from 45 countries and gave participants a chance to choose an immediate monetary reward or a larger long term reward. The chart below shows the proportion of people from different regions that chose the larger and less immediate reward

In my neighborhood, we don’t have many black people. Not many where I grew up.

Tons where I went to school in Atlanta. Many guys I went to school with were huge racists.

I have black people that work under me. Some women, some other minorities too. I won’t use the “some of my best friends are black” line because it isn’t true.

More and more, I see lots of people who look at things in “black and white”. I guess this is just another one.

generally, my interaction is like

hello sir/mam

whats up bro/hon

some type of friendly greeting, and go from there

as far as slut/librarian, my prejudice tells me the librarian is the one to take home

Oh boy. Head meet nail. The whole northeast is like that. NY is one of the most segregated places around, but don’t tell anyone.  Bad for the image.

The word 'racist' in this day and age of this country is equal to calling someone a stupid-head. It means nothing, because idiots throw it around like beads at mardi gras.

Slowly it is turning around though. People are waking up and seeing that the real racists are those that call everyone else a racist because they don't like someone. Many self hating white people and their black unmotivated, underachieving cohorts are the real racists and it's all coming out little by little.

Too bad Maude wasn't carrying the illegal firearm he carried into a school previously. Stoned and rummaging through someone's home might have turned out differently for him. He probably would have still ended up shot but maybe he could have taken out a few innocent bystanders. :dunno:

Oh I know.  That's why I laugh at Newbie's "I'd hang with the thug nigga vs. rednecks" attitude.  Please.

Arizona is so much more integrated, since most of us came from somewhere else.  My daughter was in theater and we live in an interestingly integrated school district; we've had kids from the LGBTQ spectrum at our house to eat, as well as every race imaginable.  Theater is the "island of misfit toys."  But hey, I recognize that a guy like Arbery in that police video is a crime waiting to happen, so I'm the racist while the guy living in a pure bread MA neighborhood with a few black IT folks working for him takes the high racist road.

Racial Differences in Self Control

According to the article:

Quote

Blacks make less money, are less healthy, have more kids out of wedlock, and are more criminal than Whites.

I think there are quite a few flaws in that article, starting with that sentence right there.

First of all, racial categories like black and white are eyeball calls, not based in genetics. My beige skin and nappy hair doesn't affect my ability to read or write or understand math. It may prevent me from living and going to school where I want or getting hired or how much someone wants to pay me.

Look, I don't like how two crazed men shoot at an unarmed man now means me as a black person has to defend my humanity.

here we go, look we arent the ones that want to categorize everything, we arent the ones who call black conservatives sell outs or uncle toms

the way you look doesn't prevent you from living anywhere or going to any school (but the way I look certainly does).  And there isnt a job in the US that pays less cause you are black

NBC replaced Matt Lauer with Hoda Kotb. He made 25 million/yr and she was paid 7 million/yr. Mind you, she worked not only his position but another show for 2 hours extra. Here's the kicker, she even made less than Megyn Kelly who only worked an 1 hour show on NBC. Explain that one.

Each school has it's own requirements. If you play a sport or have a parent that went to school there, you will also get to go to the school with a lesser grade point average. You're too old to still be angry about this crap.

you cant compare what people make in hollywood, it has nothing to do with her being a black muslim.  It has to do with the number of viewers they bring in.  Megan Kelly was a huge draw

Okay, explain why Michael Jordan was paid so little?

1990-91: $2.5 million

1991-92: $3.25 million

1992-93: $4 million

1994-95: $3.85 million

1995-96: $3.85 million

He’s a billionaire. It’s Tom Brady that was paid less than Cam Newton, if you want to play that game.

Peenie give it up

https://hoopshype.com/salaries/players/1993-1994/

5 of the top 6 were black, 11 of top 12

also players are allowed to negotiate their own salary

You can just believe that you are better because you are white but that is really sad because you didn't do anything but be born in order to get that.

Being better has little to do with ones skin color, but a great deal to do with ones behaviors.

If it should happen that someone decides to not be a pathetic POS, that is great, if instead they tilt toward the other end.....let them die.....

I am exactly what you all are: HUMAN

Trust and believe, I am very happy in my skin and with the way I look. I love my features and wouldn't trade them for anything in the world (except bigger breasts). It's unfortunate for others who aren't so blessed to have what I have (except for the small breasts).

Don't let racists drag you down into the dirt.  Why even engage them?  You don;t have to explain yourself to them.

I think having small breasts makes me feel less appealing and less feminine. It must be so or else women all around the world wouldn't get breast implants. It really improves the figure.

I need you guys to stop trying to dig up negative things about Ahmaud. Pointing out that he stole something years ago or talked back aggressively to police officers has nothing to do with the day in question. No one is digging up the past of the two men that shot him.

If a prostitute is assaulted and raped while walking home, does she not deserve the police to apprehend the criminal? She commits a crime everyday by selling her body for money, yet, at that moment her sex was taken from her unwillingly. Doesn't she have a right to report her crime and have it investigated just the same as if she were a virgin? What does her past or what she did yesterday have to do with what was done to her at the moment she was raped??

Do you understand the correlation here?

Why the need to present statistics about black crime, wealth and education differences?

All smear tactics! Shame!
