That's not a final number though.  It doesn't even have the west coast factored in and it doesn't have the digital platform factored in.

The article even mentions how the Thursday night numbers were higher once the digital platforms were factored in.

Up against NBA and NHL playoffs, Thursday’s Chiefs-Texans game jumped up to an audience of 19.3 million on NBC in adjusted numbers, a figure that grew to 20.3 million when near-record digital platform viewership was factored in.

Why are you so heavily invested in the wrong side of history?

This shite is all over by week 5. Cops could shoot up a black orphanage and it won’t matter. Money talks. Can’t wait when these frauds can’t run and trot out their BS excuses, along with the media and libtards. “Covid”. “Bad Match up”. “Quality of play”. They’re lucky people can’t go to the games. It would be right in their face. Never mind the booing from those that did go.

You’re offering up every excuse for the ratings decline but the obvious , just like libtards did in 2016. Typical left wing spin/dishonesty.

That's not at all what I'm doing.  I'm just not reacting to it as drastically as some of you are.  I haven't denied the obvious at all on here.

Numbers are not returning this season with fantasy down 10% or more. These freaks are the ones watching almost all the games and rooting for or against random players that have nothing to do with their hometown team. Not sure how some believed it would have no impact.

Can anyone see themselves watching the Browns/Bengals game this Thursday? That would be tough if the players all wore MAGA hats and held their hands over their heart while the NA was sung by Toby Keith.

Sounds like ratings were pretty much on par with last year. :dunno:

If by on par you mean they declined sharply, then yes, they are on par with last year.

I watched a full day of football.  It's still a nice distraction and watching redzone it was focused on football and not much else.

Similar, I watched Red Zone in the morning then the Cards/Niners game in the afternoon.  My two older kids came over for the Cards game, that was nice.  With some down/recuperating time in my near future, I'm not ready to abandon an easy all-day distraction.

That being said, I was oddly disinterested.  I did a lot of projects around the house and occasionally checked in, particularly with Red Zone.  For the Cards game, in the past I'd have planted my butt on the recliner and focused on the entire game, but this time I still putzed around watching on and off until the 4th quarter.

Broadcast TV ratings are down across the board. Looks like the protests this year had no effect at all.

Down for sports leagues that crawled into bed with BLM. Television shows are enjoying great ratings per the article I just posted.

There was a dip for sure over the weekend, 12% I think.

Most certainly the boycotters were heard. Then again there was what, 2 million less viewers from last year? Given how hard so many prayed for failure and given the F-football campaign, I would have thought it would have been more.

No doubt the lack of FF participation played a role, which again, can be directly tied to BLM - but Covid surely had hand in that too. I wonder how many streamed the games, circumventing the ratings measure.

Something like 41 of the top 50 rating broadcast shows last year were football games. Even you folks who don’t watch can’t stop talking about it. Lol

I was far more interested in the Saints/Bucs game. I loathe Clown Newton. I watched neither, just saying.

It was a typical NFL Sunday for me. I watched the Pats game intently. Then I put the TB-NO game on just to see how Brady was doing, but during it, I made a trip to Home Depot, and mostly half watched while fixing window screens. Put the Dal-LA game on, and watched most of it while working on a puzzle with the wifey.

I'll watch the games tonight, again while working on the same damn puzzle, but can't picture myself watching Cin-Cle Thursday night with any seriousness at all.

This year is a freebie and will not affect the salary cap per pre COVID agreements.

Yet you are supporting the BS narrative, I don’t think you understand what and why this is happening.

Not exactly. They have only agreed to a floor of 175 million. The current cap is 198 million. Any loss in revenue will be spread out over three years. So the salary cap can go down, but the hit won’t be in one year.

It was a give and take. The players know the revenue is going down with no tickets sold, but the owners knew they needed the players to agree to play. They could have said no, and the NFL would have no recourse because they didn’t put a clause In the contract about something like a pandemic. Players wouldn’t have got paid, but all their contracts and signing bonus would have been protected. Also, if they played one game and the season got cancelled, players would have been paid for a full season. They both had a nuclear bomb they could have used on the other. It was a smart agreement.

I believe you, but do you have a good link that discusses it?

I know, i could google it, however it sounds like you read a good article. If you do not remember where you read it, then do not worry.

I read it a while ago. Profootballtalk.com was following it closely during the negotiations. I would try putting in 2021 salary cap. Sorry.

No problem, figured it was a long shot. You described it pretty well is the only reason I asked.
