I would expect this.  Girls have a more difficult emotional time during adolescence, and our culture (especially their generation) lauds trans people.  It's an excellent path to social acceptance for an awkward young girl.

Nah, then it should be a reminder to keep the frequency of these events in perspective when discussing topics.    We do it for school shootings and all sorts of stuff.  Not sure why these trans issues are immune from that sort of perspective as well.
