remote controller 143 Posted August 8, 2022 No this isn't for those massive cookouts, but for everyday quick meals, it's hard to beat. Cooks on low at 200, and tops out on Riot Mode at about 750. Fits all weber kettle 22" accessories. RT-B380 Bullseye Wood Pellet Grill – recteq. I got mine the week before the 4th to replace my original Bullseye. Procrastinated and did my initial burn in on the 3rd and nothing happened. I called and of course it was Sunday, left a message, then expected a call on Tuesday the 5th. I had a Rep call me and get me running on the 4th of July!! Can't beat it for the money and as efficient of a grill as you can buy.
GutterBoy 2,898 Posted August 8, 2022 That's pretty impressive to get that hot, but often uneeded. I have a zgrill pellet and it gets up to 400 which is good to get chicken skin crispy. If I'm doing steaks, I'll use my gas weber which gets that hot.

Cruzer 1,995 Posted August 8, 2022 I understand the convenience of pellet grills, but still not a fan. There’s just no substitute for good old fashioned fire. The smells and heat that charcoal briquettes and wood can produce, just unbeatable.

Mine is fine, 7 years, had to replace the igniter is all. What I’m saying is it’s not that much better than the cheapo char grill I had before. So when I do have to replace it at some point I’m not paying the ridiculous prices they are asking for them.

Horseman 2,367 Posted August 8, 2022 3 minutes ago, porkbutt said: exactly. beat me to it $300 vs $700....no thanks. I mean just do the math using your numbers over six years. $300x3 > $700. I dunno what you're doing to get the bottom and burners rusting out after just 6 years, but, if you have rust that means you're exposing it to water. I cleaned mine up Saturday for having some friends over and you can't tell it's not brand new after 8 years.
Alias Detective 1,389 Posted August 8, 2022 I use my grill 200 days a year. I don’t have patience to replace the burners or fix anything. The grill sits outside with a cover 365. Webbers last as long as a charbroil under my use conditions.

I've never had a cheap igniter last 2 years tops. (I do this for all large purchases at HD) Just wait for or use google to get a Lowes/Home Depot 10% coupon. Go to Fred Meyer when they have 4x gas points for gift cards and purchase gift cards for said store. Profit $100 to $150 off your Weber purchase. Sometimes they will let you sign up for a second (or third) Home Depot card for 25% off.
GutterBoy 2,898 Posted August 8, 2022 I have a 15 year old Weber Summit that looks brand new. I replaced the burners and flavorizers this year, they lasted 15 years, and now it runs like brand new. Thing is a beast, not overrated. I went through 2 cheap grills in 5 years before I broke down and bought the Weber. I ran a WSM for 10 years and finally retired it 2 years ago for a Zgrill Pellet. remote controller 143 Posted August 8, 2022 Weber Smokey Mountain thanks to the old Sage that used to moderate this board. That is for my long smokes. Being 22 inches everything that works on it works on my Bullseye. Those are the two I use along with my Camp Chef Flat top. My favorite way to do good steak is using a charcoal Chimney with a grill grate (upside down for air flow) on it and then use a cast iron pan and sit it on the grill grate. Sear it good with rosemary and crushed garlic cloves in some ghee.

And @remote controller's OP as well, but we got the 590. We don't have a grill at the new house and have wanted a pellet one. The impetus is that we will be without a kitchen stove for about a month during our current remodel (starting this weekend). Wife liked the features of RT vs. the Tragers -- basically the fine temperature control and dual probes (heh heh...) vs. the pre-set apps/recipes. Should come next week. Will report. Alias Detective 1,389 Posted September 19, 2022 Green Mountain Edge is what I have for a pellet grill/smoker. Better than Traeger for sure. Drizzay 699 Posted September 19, 2022 I have a Weber Genesis II for everyday grilling (the natural gas version). I am looking to add the rotisserie to this one to do whole chickens and hams. Weber Smokey Mountain (18.5in) for smoking. For just the 3 in the family, this size one works. Though, if I could go back, I would have just gotten the 22in one and been done with it. supermike80 1,804 Posted September 20, 2022 Man I feel like I have done it all. Had a weber. Then bought a combo gas/charcoal/smoker. But now have a simple char broil gas that I also keep covered 24/7. For me, I like to just fire it up and make something quickly. I realize the foodies here will scoff, but whatever, it's where I landed.

Hardwood charcoal is the best for cooking and once you really figure out how to regulate the temp (when to add more coals, how much to add, etc) - you can grill without turning everything into a black briquette. Cardinals have a huge lawn where people set up large tents with multiple grills, TVs, the works. I presume some folks stay there during the game and let the coals cool off. I keep my back deck shoveled off of snow mostly just so I can continue to use my grills. . . Between what I grill and then the leftovers - I probably eat something that's been grilled (or has something that's been grilled in it) 5-6 nights/week.
