Alex Jones ordered to pay $1 billion

Recommended Posts

, the problem with the number like that it's automatically going to be appealed.

But, given that they've already proven that he's been stashing cash I hope they nail him to the wall.

I don't know anything about "Infowars" and I haven't followed the case much. All I know is this guy said he believed the Sandy Hook shooting was faked in order to confiscate America's guns.

Clearly the guy is an idiot, but how is he liable for broadcasting crazy beliefs ?  That's the part where I'm lost. How did his beliefs inflict damage to the parents?  I read some of his followers were harassing the parents, so shouldn't they sue the followers.?.  Unless he instructed them to do that, I don't get it.

Good. I’d rather he got his teeth kicked in by one of the fathers, but this will do.

He called the families of the victims crisis actors. He compounded their suffering, and the jury found it met the definition of defamation and slander.

He admitted he was engaging in conspiracy mongering, a common practice among far-right infotainment sources that pander to their viewers, readers and listeners.

I hope this serves as a lesson to biased media to be fair, balanced and accurate, reducing the volume of sometimes outrageous opinions thrown into the mix.

A Connecticut jury decided far-right talk show host Alex Jones should pay eight families of Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims and one first responder $965 million in compensatory damages.

I'm neither a lawyer nor a fan of his, but just under $1B in compensatory damages?  Was each of those wronged people/families worth $100M compensatory?  A first responder making maybe $100K?  Kids making nothing?  Ima think that won't stand.  :dunno:

Link to a far-left infotainment source getting a $1 billion judgment against it for conspiracy mongering.

It only counts if it’s a billion?

What did Pelosi have to pay to the the woman who owned a beauty salon when Pelosi didn't abide by her own mask mandates and when called out for it at the peak of the liberal fesr mongering, she told the country she was set up by the owner.

Drunkedly slurring "I didn't wear a mask, that's on me. But that woman set me up!"

Then the salon owner started getting death threats and her salon was being vandalized, so she had to close up shop and move out of state.

Where is that justice being handed out? No where.

Did the salon owner file a lawsuit?

Pelosi certainly had legal exposure with that setup claim.

If the salon owner didn't file a lawsuit, that was her choice.

Well, she was scared for her life and a bunch of good conservatives living in other states offered to help her. Better life is a better option than getting death threats while out of work trynig to fight an untouchable liberal cont.

Who's defending him? I just want fair justice across the board when someone like Pelosi destroys someone's life.

Yup, like that who destroyed that Duke team. The standard has been set. Kyle Rittenhouse LOVEs this verdict.

Typical, liberals don't see how bad this is for them.

Good point. CNN already felt a big hit. Go after all of them.

It's not even close how much worse the liberal press and politicians than anyone else. I would love for this case to set lawsuits ablaze against these liberals including Biden and Pelosi.

Go count how many times Rusty and other's post about Trump in the Biden thread. You may need a few days to get through it.

I'm not going to adhere to some stupid fake rule about only mentioning only the person in the title of the thread which no one else on this site follows. No one.

I stayed on topic and asked for equal justice to be handed out on similar bullshlt that this guy did.

Cheer this on all you want but if you don't condemn it not happening to others who do the same thing because they align with your party, then there is no point of playing "Wooohoooo, someone I don't like got busted!!"

So it's open season in any thread here. It has already been normalized by many others before me.

Yep.  I was certainly wrong about this topic.

See what I did there? Lots of posters should take notes and learn how to do that.

The numbers are nuts though and will never come to fruition.  I heard on the news that single families were being awarded upwards of 50 million. That's rediculous.  Economists regularly use 10 million as the value of a life and that's for being responsible for the life. It's a sad state of affairs for free speech regardless what you think about Jones.

If Trump’s followers had listened to Fauci instead of Trump, Rogan, and other quacks, probably a few hundred thousand lives could have been saved.

Over 90% of COVID deaths were of unvaccinated people. People who got no vaccine were 97x more likely to die than people who got the shot and the booster.

100 years from now, kids in history class will try to figure out how people in the 2020s could be stupid enough to ignore a broad consensus of the world’s doctors and take health advice from reality TV stars instead.

Not sure what you're trying to say here. Pelosi should have faced civil and criminal lawsuits in this incident, and she didn't own it and instead tried to throw the salon owner under the bus. I can't stand that hypocritical shrew.

Agreed. Especially when it is so focking obvious. When it's on video of people saying it and the truth comes out that they were completely slanderous. I propose we go after the obvious first like that one high school kid did with CNN and go from there. Not let the government get in the way of it especially when it's politicians being called out. Let local and state courts handle it. DAs are often the problem as well. Need to neuter them of politics.
