What's your 80s band?

Recommended Posts

And I guess I'm trying to say, not like the rolling Stones or Who, a Fleetwood Mac, some of the maybe a little bit less known bands?

For me, it's night ranger, 38 special and triumph.

It just takes me back. Simpler days. Girlfriend who had that hung literally like vomit in a tube sock. And was open to anything.

Part of what got me thinking is apparently there's a big '80s revival at Red rocks pretty soon.

Anyway, guess just feeling nostalgic.

Survivor. I listened to the Vital Signs album a thousand times.

Police before that and U2 after. I know those are cliché, but it’s true. Also loved Asia’s first two albums. Asia’s debut album was the first cassette I ever bought.

Also, given your man love for Night Ranger, The Damn Yankees fukkin killed it the late 80's - mid 90s Best "Supergroup" evah imo.
Your boy Blades from Night Ranger, Tommy Shaw from STYX, Ted Nugent, and a drummer.
Their live shows were epic.

I'll raise you The Cure "Just Like Heaven" and "Pictures of You" in the later 80's
"A Forrest" in the earlier 80's

I kinda like Robert Smith

Yep. Good one.  The Sex Pistols are in my top 20 of my all time bands to listen to.

I do prefer Public Image more than This is not a Love Song mainly ;cause it's a bit harder.

And while you were in to all those bands working on your combover, the rest of us normal males were getting laid to hot 80's hair band liking female hotties

Also, nothing wrong with the bands you listed, imo.  You might just be older than myself is all.

Other bands I'll mention are The Dream Syndicate, The Feelies, R.E.M., Jane's Addiction, Guns 'n' Roses and Metallica.

The Dream Syndicate put out an insanely important and classic album called "Days of Wine and Roses."

The Feelies put out three great albums in the 1980s but didn't really hit their classic until "Time for a Witness," which I want to say was around 1991.

R.E.M. is one of America's greatest bands, and their 1980s albums are all great.

Then you have Jane's Addiction and Guns 'n' Roses in the latter half of the decade, plus the stuff Metallica put out then.

Amazing band, one of my favorites … but only their first EPs were late 80s. Everything else was 90s.

Since almost everything I would have already posted has been covered, going to drop one that I think was really great but did not get the attention they deserved
