President Biden was criticized Monday for his response to the Nashville school shooting after he joked that he only made a public appearance because he heard there would be ice cream before discussing the tragedy that claimed the lives of three adults and three children at an elementary school earlier in the day.

"My name is Joe Biden. I’m Dr. Jill Biden’s husband," Biden said from the White House's East Room in his first public appearance since a 28-year-old woman shot and killed three students and three teachers at a Christian private school in Nashville. "I eat Jeni’s ice cream — chocolate chip. I came down because I heard there was chocolate chip ice cream," he continued. "By the way, I have a whole refrigerator full upstairs," he added. "You think I’m kidding? I’m not," Biden told the crowd.

Biden later called the shooting "sick" and "heartbreaking" while demanding Congress do more to "stop the gun violence." But critics went after the president for the inappropriate reaction and seemingly playful tone while addressing the tragedy.

"To say that he misunderstood the moment would be an understatement," former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie told Fox News later Monday. "You know, the president is watching, you’d hope before he comes down there, the awful scenes from the shooting and the reactions of family members and friends of people in that school. And to be coming down, joking about the fact that he’s Jill Biden’s husband and looking for chocolate chip ice cream is hardly the way to start it," Christie said.

Those aren't the "last 4" school shooters (which i assume his beef with your post is).   They are mass shooters, but  at least one of those examples is from 5-6 years ago, and at least one of those examples might not be true and wasn't at a school.  

There is going to be a reaction to this shooting to tie trans/non-binary to shootings.

1.  The Colorado Springs shooter was lying, unless you believe he was a non binary Nazi.  And it wasn’t at a school.

2.  I do not see any reporting that the Aberdeen shooter was trans.  This also was not at a a school.

3.  The Aberdeen shooting occurred in 2018 and the Highlands Ranch shooting occurred in 2019.    Unfortunately due to the frequency of these types of events, these are nowhere close to “the last four”

Two shootings in five years is not a pattern.

Medical experts.  And precisely what is their medical training?  Surgeons making a living doing the transitioning surgery may or may not have looked into the psychology of the matter, but they don't have any certification in it.  It is not as if they are a Doctor of Transitioning.  Psychologists, and social workers, well they are not medical experts.  Masters degrees following a bachelor of arts degree is neither medical nor an expert.  They give those things away like candy.  I guess that leaves Psychiatrist who I understand do have doctorates.  I note their bible is the DMS.  I simply need to ask what volume of the bible are they currently on.  See when you have to start numbering your bible because it is constantly changing in substantial and meaningful ways your cite to it as authoritative loses impact.  Basically it becomes little more than the accepted hypothesis of the moment.

Look I’m no expert on this stuff. So far as I’m aware, I’ve never met a transgender person. I go by what the experts tell me. 

I wonder if I am an expert.  I have a Masters in Clinical Psych.  Now to be fair I never used that training and when I was in school the definitive DSM was DSM III.

Even decorative security bars over the glass might have helped. We have then at my home and they look O.K.  Would they stop a very strong male from getting in, probably not, but they would slow him substantially.  Of course bullet proof glass like you advocate would prevent shooting in from the door while my solution would not as a shooter could still shoot in from the door but he would not get in to continue shooting from inside, at least not right away.  My solution would be temporary, bowing to costs.  the best solution would be both.

Maybe if kids were not made to feel the fierce urgency of now it would help.  I think they feel if things are not working out right now, if they do not know who and what they will eventually become right now they are desperate and without hope and options.  That drives dangerous conclusions by still developing minds.  Let them know that direction comes to them in time, and in the meantime to understand that the now is a season, a season which will pass and will leaved them with lessons which will enrich the future.

I just dropped my 8 year old daughter off at school and I was just thinking about that as well.  I can't imagine what it would be like for her if it happened at her school.
