Worst 1980s arcade games

Recommended Posts

That football game that had the X's vs. the O's and cost like 50 cents to play it for like a minute. Sure, it was 5 game clock units, but that was stupid. You got like one drive in and then it was going to cut you off if you didn't keep feeding it your quarters.

I think it was one of those first 50 cent games and it didn't even extend based upon how well you played. I guess they justified it was a 2 person game. Stupid.

Was that the one with the rollerball controller?  That thing by itself was dangerous and caused many blood blisters to my hands back in the day.

Yes it was. Was that early tech for video games? I think maybe it was.

As a small kid I actually liked the old Atari X and O football game.  There weren't many sports games out when it was released in the early 80's.  There was a 2nd version of it that allowed 2 or 4 players and had punt as a play.  If you chose punt for your defensive play it was almost impossible for your opponent to complete a pass against you and often would be intercepted.

Hated Dragon's Lair too, took more than one token and was hard to begin with.

Dragons Lair. I hated and loved that game passionately

If you have an Xbox, you can go the online store and buy it for a few bucks.  It felt very good to finally beat that damn game---though I still haven't managed to do it on a single play yet.

Tapper. I thought it was fun, but I’ve always loved beer. 🍻

Fern bar. They had some cheesy electronic Dan Fogelberg soundtrack and the goal was to accumulate as much Flare from your waitresses as possible while avoiding the guys with the popped collars.

Why does seafoam have the title being "Worst 1980s arcade games", yet post one that came out in 1978?

Good point.  I remember on Dec 31 1979 they got rid of all of the ones that came out in the 70’s.  Retard.

Initially, then it became Root Beer Tapper because having Budweiser in the back wouldn't fly in arcades...

Remember the one where you got more and more Snickers bars the more you got fondled? Like it started with some low-end cousin and then it was like a wrestling coach and then it was your Sunday school teacher, then it was a priest and then a cardinal and an Archbishop...

Wait, that wasn't a video game?

Then where did I get all the quarters?

They should make a version with a tranny bartender who serves Bud Light.

What is cool is that you can now play every single game exactly as it was in the arcade for under $1000. Maybe even under $500 if you go cheap on the PC. Launchbox on the PC is awesome now. Easy to configure and import the game roms. Vector games show as vector games on the big screen TV. The only games I have yet to get to work are the ones with a unique set of controls like bandido.

Tempest is awesome. Even got crazy climber to work with the x-arcade controllers. Made it farther than I ever did pumping quarters into it in the 80s..

I honesty hated pacman. It was just formulaic and it introduced nothing interesting visually.

Problem was I could memorize the solution. That's why it was boring. Dumbass.
