Jason Aldean’s "Try That In A Small Town" Censored And Accused Of ‘Pro-Lynching' Themes

I miss hearing a song and then going to the record store to get it. For example, yesterday in the car I heard a new Joan Jett and the Blackhearts song , Make The Music Go Boom!, by the time I parked in my driveway and got out of my car I had bought it.

I use to go to Target almost every week to buy a CD.  They always had the best prices on them when I was in high school.  It always sucked spending $11 to $15 on a new CD to find out you only liked one or two songs.  There has never been a better time to be a fan of music as it is right now.

I waiver on this too, I watch my kids grow up with the music tech and they listen to less stuff and explore less than I do.  They problem is they know they have everything at anytime, so there's no attachment to it.  It's mostly background noise.   The art of the full album is largely lost.

I think there is something to be said with listening to an album over and over because you only have a few dozen or so.

I love it, and listen to more albums than ever.  My son listens to the same 90 songs.

Where is the verse about burning down your trailer park cause of a homemade meth lab explosion?

I love country music but songs like this are so head in the sand because it tries to pretend like small towns don't have issues too with robberies, or violence, or the like and it is so obviously coded in "Hey the black people do this" that it just comes off so idiotic.

The whole argument of "This song was canceled...." It wasn't. It's been out to radio since like April. it just has awkward construction to it and it isn't necessarily catchy or anything. It was a bad song dying- Aldean decided to make a purposefully controversial video to get attention and it worked. The song ultimately becomes then not some anthem for "white life vs black life" in America- it is a testament for people playing the outrage culture system like a fiddle (an instrument ironically enough that isn't in country music a whole lot anymore)

You're serious? I live in a small town, in the South. We are a COMMUNITY, a tight community, a safe community, we help each other, we protect each other and our local businesses. We don't burn them down, loot, steal or rob them. We aren't animals.

Don't dare compare a small Southern town to zoos like Chicago, Philly, NY, San Francisco, LA, Detroit, Washington DC, New Jersey, Baltimore, etc. It's not my fault you aren't safe.

There's not a damn thing wrong with Jason Aldean's message. He's condemning the violence and crime. How is that a bad thing??

Fix the real problem before you blame some alligator armed dude in a Cowboy hat for your issues.

Id rather have to walk through the trailer parks of WV at 3am than the black ghettos of Chicago. So would you but you'll never admit it

Of course, who wouldn't?

This guy is acting like there's not a problem there and blaming a Country singer for it. That's insane

Worst that is going to happen in a poor white neighborhood is you might get offered a crack rock or offered some stolen property. In a black neighborhood murders, muggings are on the table and far more likely. Sean is a retard.

He really is. That was about as dumb of a statement as I've ever heard, comparing small town America to a violent lawless city.

He's the poster child dude with a manbun and a half grown beard who moves to Nashville to get away from NJ and calls himself Southern.

Yankees are flocking down South to get away from that crap.

The people upset by this song hate America and crave attention.

Jason Aldeen was singing at the outside concert during the biggest mass killing shooting in American History so I'm surprised this is what he chose to sing about. I guess it's still all about making a song to sell to make money.

You have a whole field of scarecrows with those strawmen.

I'd rather be asleep at 3am...and I'm not scared in either scenario you presented.

Ohh...these exact same insults came from someone else a week or so ago. I'm a small town guy born and raised. There are definitely a ton of problems here though.

I don’t know if anyone’s mentioned it but Jason Aldean deserves great credit for the money he’s raised fighting breast cancer. I may disagree with his political views (and I find this song pretty laughable) but he’s a stand up guy.

He is a good guy and has always been the first to donate and help others. I'm shocked and confused as to how this song is angering people.

This song is about the violent riots in the summer of 2020 which caused over $2 billion in damage and dozens lives. Maybe you should listen to it.

“I heard Neil Young sing about us, I heard ole Neil put us down, I hope Neil Young will remember, a southern man don’t need him around anyhow”

LS>NY.  All day, everyday.  Maybe the Chicks or Clay Aiken should come out with a song in response to make you cucks and betas happy.

Jason Aldean doesn't need CMT or radio play. He sells out everywhere he goes in minutes.

He'll be just fine. Neil Young is a Liberal Psssy.

You have the most posts here for the past 8 years.  If this is your barometer  of having friends, then you don't have any.

Go ahead and move.

Yup. Can’t bring up all the things they are good with or you’re a phobe or a ist.  They hate taking about things like butchering children and wrecking things.

I heard it back in April when it was released and played as a new single on Sirius.

I was making a joke. Maybe you should look up the definition.

Alden is the standard southern hillbilly racist conservative.

He tries to hide behind his fake ass patriotism and christianity as a cover for him being a bigoted homophoic redneck through and through so they will buy his albums.

All of his songs suck that are about the same old themes in country music since the beginning of time.

The American flag

The Bible

The Constitution

Old dirt road

Shot of whiskey

Rusty pickup truck

Family oak tree

Mom's fried chicken

Granny's moist biscuits

Dad's belt buckle

Early morning hunting

Fishing at lake

Wrangler blue jeans

Trusty cowboy hat

Mud in Alabama

Rivers in Mississippi

Pie in Georgia.

I don't think anyone here has been offended by this song, or has boycotted Jason Aldean.  For the left to go crazy about this is wrong.

You're kinda proving my point here.

I am just entertained by it all.  I find it more amusing than anything else. The array of leftists who sought to shut this song down is just completely amusing.

Oh absolutely.  I find that one amusing as well.  Anyone who allows political chicanery to rule their daily life is just a toy of the powerful.
