Just some of the Vietnam scenes. Very far fetched, nonsense. Besides that it was phenomenal

I just rewatched Deer Hunter about a month ago and agree here.   I had forgotten how great the pre-Nam lead up was, and how over the top the scenes there can get.  Still an epic, great movie, but not without it's warts.

Since the question was best movie - IMO it has to go back to Scorsese and be Taxi Driver or Raging Bull.   Favorite De Niro movie would be Heat since that's a top 10 movie for me.

Can’t argue.

I think it’s Deniro’s best movie, period.

I really liked it except for the wedding scene in the beginning. To long. The Walken scenes were the best.

I thought Dinero was one trick pony until I saw that. Didn't know he had that talent.

Yep. This movie was on cable one summer I think when I was a kid and I watched it a quite a few times. Underrated movie.

Taxi Driver

Heat

Midnight Run was a Charles Grodin movie.

Midnight Run was the first that came to my mind. I love that movie. But it doesn't fit the criteria. Walsh and Mardukavich are running from the FBI and the Chicago mob for the whole movie. Sounds "mob-related" to me. :dunno:

So, I'll say Heat

And I guess there were angry mobs of villagers in Frankenstein, so maybe strike that from the list.

I didn't see that movie, but your logic sounds reasonable.

Master criminal Neil McCauley (Robert De Niro) is trying to control the rogue actions of one of his men”

Heat is sorta mob-esque as well. It’s organized crime, no?

Watched it last night.  Its ok.  I wouldn't call it epic and definitely not one of De Niros best
