It does and it is impractical and unrealistic to try to ban all political discussion (including a straight news story only recounting the facts of a major news event).

Again. It gets difficult when threads are derailed into pages and pages of political garbage. Why don't people stick to topics at hand? I belong to other boards where thy have a specific political forum and it stays there. The general forum actually stays general and it's extremely extremely rare to have it bleed over.

The main forum of there is quite a bit more active than this one. 

The Politics Forum was very good. Think they just got sick of banning people all the time. But, because they were on top of it  was why it was solid.

My recollection was that posters that were acting nuts would get banned how they determined who was nuts was often time tricky for a variety of reasons.They got sick of doing that, people whining, it was no longer worth the time for the return to them plus they didn’t want to be associated with it.

He never told me that and we had long discussions about it. He asked me to try to hold my temper when people insulted me because when I retaliated that made it worse. And I actually cut down on my posts during the last couple years of the Political forum because I was busy with stuff. But I asked him directly in PMs if he thought I was contributing to the problems there and he said no. 
 

Most of what caused the shutdown was the incessant reporting. I rarely did that. The other problem were the MAGA people who deliberately trolled and insulted everyone and sought to shut things down. They’re the ones truly at fault IMO.
