wiffleball 4,682 Posted October 17, 2018 Seems like I've heard both sides pretty clearly. Some believe that for example, I'm your husband, not your bestie. Gossip and whatever else have to do with your girlfriend not with me. Others, feel pretty much just the opposite. They get maybe even a little threatened by anybody else having any sort of role or importance in their spouses life. I've known too many insecure guys who literally pretty much just hid in their apartment until they finally found a partner slash wife and then they finally develop some semblance of a life. I just have a hard time respecting that personally. Also, I just think that's a hell of a lot to put on any one person. But I can see either argument. Bier Meister 1,532 Posted October 17, 2018 married 23 yrs. there used to be a time where i could tell her everything. she is still one of my closest friends, but i cannot have that kind of transparency any longer. not even a male vs female thing. more about feelings, reactions, and how she processes information.

seafoam1 1,886 Posted October 17, 2018 I think you need to start this thread with a definition of 'best friend'. I hope that would include the person you choose to share a bed with in your home on a nightly basis for year after year, as well as them being the person you are spending the majority of your time with while alive on this earth. seafoam1 1,886 Posted October 17, 2018 You guys do realize you can have really good friends in life without saying your wife isn't your best friend. I mean, they can be equal friends can't they? Or if you had to choose between having that one guy friend or your wife are you saying you pick your guy friend?
Frozenbeernuts 1,653 Posted October 17, 2018 My gf is my bf in a different kind of way than my bf I grew up with. I think it makes the relationship more intimate. For most people that's probably for the better. For some they don't need that. And I'm sure there's a lot of couples where the man and woman have differing views, which is probably where a lot of problems lie

Frozenbeernuts 1,653 Posted October 17, 2018 Do you stick to anal with both of them, or does your girlfriend let you slam the clam also? Does your BF get jealous of your GF? It really depends on the a lot of factors. Time of the month, astrological cycle, menstrual cycle, which movies are available on Netflix... Er I mean we don't share like that
Patriotsfatboy1 1,432 Posted October 18, 2018 My wife is my partner. We are a team when it comes to our kids, our home, our finances. We do things for each other and take care of one another. That does not make her my BF IMO. Remember, a good friend is the one that bails you out of jail. A best friend is one that is sitting next to you saying, "Wasn't that focking cool!!!!". vuduchile 1,941 Posted October 18, 2018 My wife is my best friend, somewhat by choice, but also a little by default. I have friends around here that I play golf with, do charity work with, etc, but none are best friends. All the guys I used to hang with before marriage are in other states so we dont see each other much. I like spending time with and talking to my wife so it works out. But if my best friend lived near me, I would surely spend some of my free time with him instead of her. It wouldnt change our marriage any. Her best friend lives near us so they do stuff together. Shes my best friend in the trust and confide and help each other way. Hanging out, women suck at that generally. There's nothing I can do with my guy friends that I can't have just as much or more fun doing with my wife. Drinkin, watching sports, going to the range, fishing... My wife is cool with all that stuff and I take her with me when I go. I don't think I have a single male friend that hasn't asked me if she has a sister or make a crack about waiting the appropriate amount of time after I die to make a move on her. Cool chick's are out there fellas. You don't have to settle for someone you can tolerate when you aren't with your boys.

Met her at a poker game, our first date was a poolhall she suggested where she busted out her own pool cue, and the first time we went to her place she had more consoles/games than I did. Cdub100 3,458 Posted October 18, 2018 If you say your spouse is your best friend you're probably one of those people who don't have friends anyway. Like one of those desperate losers who finally got some tang and now she controls your whole life. Or you're a needy basic chick who also didn't have friends and finally has a man around to tell you what to do. One of those people who dress up their pets. A night out is hitting up the local DQ for an extra large blizzard and binge watching anime on netflix. You're one of those people who always ask, "can my wife come too" when the guys are planning a dudes night. Only to never be invited again.

Between work, marriage and family, their aint a lot of extra time. I regularly hang out with a couple friends, see a few others every month or so, and take trips once a year with another half dozen. From what I can tell, this is more regular contact with friends than most people. But we dont have kids and only work part time. How many friends do you interact with regularly, including your best friend?
