Alias Detective 1,179 Posted August 10, 2018 Thanks for the tip but I'll pass. No worries. It's a great risk, no more than going to the casino tho. $25,000 with a shot of being worth much more is a risk I'm willing to take at this point. This is inside an IRA So it's not a short term play unless.....

iam90sbaby 2,125 Posted September 9, 2018 If any of you guys have Bitfinex Id recommend checking if anyone has logged into your account from an unknown IP. Someone did on mine. Luckily I froze it in time and nothing was taken. I bet there is a big hack going on right now and we are going to find out tomorrow or something a lot of crypto was taken. SenatorRock 708 Posted December 8, 2018 bump Anyone cash out and make a profit? I just realized it was this time last year that crypto mania hit and everyone with an internet connection was dumping money into it. What a focking joke. The .com bubble on steroids, that literally evaporated overnight. Dec 2017 people were cashing out millionaires, by MLK day portfolios were worthless. I don't even remember what my login credentials are for coinbase and the other place so I can't even check to see my balances but pretty sure they are close to zero. Did any of the "whitepapers" turn into actual business? I assume BTC and ETH are still around, did anything else survive?

MTSkiBum 1,594 Posted December 8, 2018 This is getting really popular, I know quite a few people jumping in. This just screams bubble to me. I am wrong all the time though, but no way am I getting in now. You have people buying in not because they want to use the product, but rather because they see people making money. Same thing happened in the housing market. People were buying houses as investments rather to live in. Just my opinion, not saying I am right, only time will tell. I am wrong a lot, but i saw this coming a mile away. My current opinion is that crypto's will mainly be used by 3rd world countries as a way of combating inflation. Even with all the money some of them have lost it is still doing better than Venezuala's currency. The other thing to remember is remember the .com bubble. The few that did not go under, ie Amazon recovered pretty good in the long term. This may turn into a great 10+ year investment.
frank 2,145 Posted December 8, 2018 If you learned anything from this thread, you know this is just another buying opportunity.
Frozenbeernuts 1,652 Posted December 8, 2018 I never got out because the buddy who got me in kept repeating that it's a long term investment. He is a pretty damn good investor, so I just stuck with it. I have no plans on cashing out. If it ends up 0 then so be it.
peenie 1,690 Posted December 8, 2018 I was too scared to purchase so I never invested.

Saint Elistan 106 Posted December 9, 2018 Haha - yeah I kept a relatively low investment of 2.5k into this. My wife wasn't mad when I told her how bad it's gotten. We'll see where it's at in 5-10 I guess. Will just check in every few months or so until then...

Mookz 1,287 Posted December 10, 2018 Let's say hypothetically I put in $14. At some point it may have grown as high as $32. Along the way I would have had a conversation with myself: "Well, I could cash out my original $14 and play with house money." "Yeah, but it's so much easier to make money when you have more in play. Besides, at this point it would have to really crash for you to actually lose money." Good thing it was all hypothetical.

supermike80 1,285 Posted December 12, 2018 Yeah I stayed away. Mostly because I'm 51 and risky investments are more difficult for me at this stage. I applaud those that took the risk, cause you never know. We all know the stories of MSFT, Apple etc.....so congrats on trying...Like someone else said, as long as you didn't mortgage everything, it's not a lot different than a few trips to the casino. Hope it pays off or at least breaks even for those that did drop a few $$ on it. I'm of course glad I didn't(hindsight) but sure would have been jealous if you kids god paid!!! I made a load of extra money that’s still in my bank account today. Only late investing retards lost money. All this is documented throughout the thread. Oh and the original OP was me recommending Carvana stock, which was around $10 when I posted this and it’s over $60 this afternoon. (Focking nailed it like I always do) When someone makes a recommendation, you can’t wait months and it goes up 100% and THEN jump in ya focking tard, you have to jump immediately. Thank you for reminding me what a great year 2017 was. Oh and you’re still a snitch and I’m glad I have you ragging

Thank you for reminding me what a great year 2017 was. Oh and you’re still a snitch and I’m glad I have you ragging i think the thing about this thread, and the crypto talk that was most hilarious is not the part where some people obviously bought in early and some people obviously bought in late and ended up holding the bag.... which happens with every pump and dump scheme (im glad i sold my ETH for a tiny profit and was done with it).... the most hilarious part was the bravado of all the guys pumping CCs. The comparisons to the combustion engine, etc.. those are the posts I recall from this thread that make me laugh out loud. also, I guess i'll add that the old investing schtick of "well i bought in super early and made lots of money and im always right on all my calls!" only holds water if you're not also trumpeting the stock or investment opportunity when its super high up too. Wasn't 90sbaby still hammering home to everyone that this thing was still in its infancy and a good time to buy, well before it crashed and burned? So does that really make one "nail it like they always do?"
