4 pointsIf you believe 9/11 was an inside job- you are an idiot.
-
4 pointsSo what we have here is a headline that states, in a definitive manner that 9/11 was an inside job. Then a main post from you that starts off with conviction... "a lot of people refuse to believe this" . Which then quickly shifts to 'ifs'... "if a court determined the evidence was true... then to a statement of "it's at least possible". you are the classic definition of someone who spends way too much time on social media looking for other people to tell you what your opinion should be ironically just to turn around and claim that other people are allowing the government to tell them what is real or not

3 pointsWe’re talking about guns coming in via the southern border. Theres already a policy in place to stop it, if the administration wants to. This is why people like you turn off people like me when it comes to some common sense gun legislation. Because you people are incapable of any sense, common or otherwise.

3 points"Took control"? Did she say that? That's what we're talking about about here. Venezuela gangs did not take over apartment complexes. That is a fact and you can't prove me wrong.

3 pointsYeah, I remember Saints being a good poster for quite some time. Then poof, he changed. Reading what he’s posting now is very peculiar.

2 pointsI still don’t think Trump is going to win, but he’s tied in the polls and the momentum for now appears to be on his side. So I have to consider it a strong possibility. Ugh. Even so I remain an optimist. Here’s what I think and hope if that happens: 1. Trump has promised a 20% tariff on all imports from all countries, higher on China. My friend @jerryskids assures me this will never actually happen, that it’s simply a starting point in a negotiation to get other countries to trade with us more fairly. So I’m going to hope that he is right about this. Or, if he is wrong, I’m going to trust that the immediate economic backlash of such actions will force Trump to withdraw the tariffs shortly after he has enforced them. 2. Trump has promised to institute mass deportation of undocumented immigrants. For that he needs money, tons of it, and the willingness of Congress to go along. Ultimately he won’t get it. There will be a lot of fear and IMO bad results as he reinstates some of the awful executive orders from his previous term. Eventually we will have a more comprehensive solution to this issue but that will have to wait. 3. We will cut off aid to Ukraine. That WILL happen and it likely means Ukraine will have to concede large areas of territory to Russia ala the Munich conference of 1938. Trump may also pull out of NATO. Trump may also refuse to defend Taiwan and refuse to defend South Korea. Expect an isolationist push around the world, except for Israel which we will unequivocally support no matter what actions they take. Conservatives apparently believe this will make us safer (or at least it won’t harm us). I doubt that but I will hope they’re right. 4. Trump will seek a tax cut but he’ll only get one if the House stays Republican, which is a 50/50 bet. Either way so long as the tariffs and trade war are avoided the economy should continue to improve as we are a robust nation and capitalism works. Trump will take credit but I don’t care; I want good things to happen always and it disgusts me when people, including those on my side, root for bad things to happen because the wrong guy is President. So hopefully the economy booms. But if Trump gets his tariffs you can throw that all out the window. 5. Liberals fear that Trump will end our democracy. I’ve never believed this. He is an authoritarian and he will attempt to weaponize the DOJ (no it is not weaponized now) to punish his enemies. These attempts will likely fail. 6. Conservatives expect a Trump victory will mean an end to all of the woke culture they detest about modern American society. That won’t happen. Woke is mostly inevitable change, and IMO positive change. Transgenders, gays, women, blacks, will continue to gain more and more rights even during the next 4 years despite attempts to slow that down. Eventually women will regain the right to abortion once again everywhere in this country. I’m extremely confident about this. Just may take a little longer. 7. The argument over climate change will be unaffected because there’s not much difference in policy between the two parties. Harris’ current views on fracking represents a truth that liberals will never admit: no matter how bad climate change gets we will never try to fight it by punishing big industry and the consumer. It will never happen. At some point some President is going to wake up and propose a huge investment into nuclear energy, and particularly nuclear fusion. If that’s Trump then despite everything else he could still go down as one of our greatest Presidents. So that’s all for now. If Trump wins I will wish him well because I wish this country well and he will be my President. I will hope for the best.

2 pointsYou would think that your concern would be the amount of guns coming into our country via the unsecured border than getting Trump on a gotcha. Unless of course you think that’s not happening either. TDS man. It’s real. Makes you dumb.

2 pointsPatterns like discrimination against women, racial minorities and LGBTQ folks? Liberals have had no problem in recognizing that.

2 pointsThis song came on at our gym earlier this week. I thought two things: (1) I love this song, and (2) I'm having a total mental block on the name. Had to come home and find it on Spotify. Funny that @MikeMattchose it as the first song.

2 pointsThe Harris honeymoon is ending, and people are reminded that she was a terrible candidate before the coup that put her in the nomination. She is trying to be Solomon splitting the baby with her flip flopping positions on fracking, the border, etc., and it ends up she is pleasing no one. HTH I've often pimped the Freakonomics podcast here, and will again. They just posted a two-part series on the president, dictatorship, and how to predict the election. https://freakonomics.com/podcast/has-the-u-s-presidency-become-a-dictatorship-update/ https://freakonomics.com/podcast/how-to-predict-the-presidency/ The host, Stephen Dubner, is definitely NOT a fan of Trump. His pods rarely get into politics tho, and even these were more academic than partisan. The first was a replay/update of one they did in 2016 before Trump was elected. One of the main guests is a legal historian and U of Chicago professor, who talked about how the office of POTUS has amassed a lot more power than the Founders envisioned. He was actually quite critical of Obama and his selective law enforcement or lack thereof. The second one was primarily about betting markets for the election (also very interesting), but Dubner talked to the same professor about the risk of Trump becoming somethin of a dictator. The professor's opinion was... not really a risk. His reasoning is that to be a dictator, you need to be disciplined and organized, which isn't Trump.

2 pointsBorder Patrol Union, big time endorsement for Trump. I'll listen to the boots on the ground. You either want a safe country and a secure border or you vote Democrat. It's that simple.

2 pointsTim, this is a terrific well written piece, but I’d move this to no. 1. His comments have become more intense, including today. This is the guy Washington warned us against and shielded us against. It’s a full on alert.

2 pointsYes it all makes perfect sense and is very relevant. What a chode you are

1 pointWhy do people judge rookies as being better than other rookies early in their first year playing in the NFL? It makes no sense.

1 pointI tend to agree with this. I'm not going to pretend, or say, Trump is a dumb guy- he isn't. But I don't think he is as smart as some people- many posters here- tend to believe he is. Essentially he is a used car salesman. He knows how to say what the person on the other end needs to hear in order to "buy". It doesn't matter the logistics of it, the reality of it, if you can talk it up enough the other person will buy. He hasn't really given any specifics about what he is going to do to combat some of the issues he is facing but people magically believe he is going to solve things. But his verbal manipulation does not necessarily equate with intelligence- at least as it relates to his own intelligence. It equates more with the lack of intelligence the general voting public has (and yes I'm including liberal voters in that as well). What I think someone could make a case about is- who will he surround himself with and what are their intentions? Because all you really need to say to Trump is "Hey this will make you very popular" and he will go with it. he won't look at the pros and cons of something, it will be whatever best feeds his image. And someone around him may be smart enough to exploit that.
