So, the Chinese government cracked down on the entire private school sector, effectively destroying everything my wife and I built as well as every place I'd worked along the way, except the kindergartens. We moved back to the US in December of 2021 to Michigan where my sister generously allowed the five of us to stay with her for a year. I got a job teaching middle school math in the Florida panhandle in December of 2022 and so we've been here going on two years.

The two oldest kids are a senior and junior in high school, The elder is in the Florida National Guard and her brother will join her when he turns 17 in January. All three are top students, US schools are significantly easier than their Chinese counterparts. The upside of coming back to the US is it allows them to appreciate the country more but it was a hard landing.
