What's Your Favorite Bar

Recommended Posts

Your go to when sporting events take place,or a nice escape, or your after hour hangout with good bar friends?

Don't have to name it. Mines a small tavern bar with plenty of TV's and really hot bartenders that remind me of the Geek Club. Witty insight and a fawk you attitude.

I share things and ideas I learn from you fuckos and call most of you my friends when relating the things I learn here. Any of you do that?

What's the tipping in bars situation where you live? In NY you are expected to tip fairly well.

A dollar for every drink plus shots. I tip 30% for every tab that closes at a bill. More if I put it on my company card. Drinks are much cheaper here than in the City.

I've doubled the bill by fifty if the waitress or bartender deserves it. Good service is difficult these days

That's what I do. Service is sub par. It seems the new breed of bartender feels entitled to the tip, regardless of effort.

Had a bartender a few weeks ago tell me she isn't going to cross the bar and I had to carry my own drinks. She's sucking cack at Costco now.

Sports...usually here or at a friend's house.

Don't have a great bar that near by.

And all the nicer ones downtown are ridiculously overpriced in terms of drinks.

$9 for a glass of bourbon...though, going to the US mens soccer game the other night, it was $9 for a 16oz bud light. Forget that.

No thanks.

As for a favorite...I like Lake Park Tavern near my parents in Wisconsin.

Good food...drinks are reasonably priced.

Need to get up there on a Packer game day. Great specials and things going on during games.

For just beer I go to this place called the Flying Saucer which has a sh1t ton of beers on tap. It's pretty much all they serve. If you bring in your card you get it punched when you try a new beer. Once you have tried over 200 they put your name on a gold plate on the wall.

For other drinks it's a bar downtown called 1919. It's a speakeasy style bar located in a basement and they serve amazing drinks. Almost any kind of bourbon, scotch, whiskey you want. Their old fashions are awesome there

Used to be a Champps Americana right down the hill from my house. Used to head over there on Sundays if I wasn't attending the Broncos games. They had a great setup for TV's. Sitting at the bar I could look at the two walls surrounding the corner and see 9 TV's, one of which was like 120 inches and they put a featured game on in the morning and afternoon. Great breakfast buffet on Sundays too. Could walk or have the GF drive me. Either way. Great for UFC and other sporting events too. Showed up one Sunday two seasons ago and there was a note on the door that they had closed. Place was packed all the time. No way they weren't profitable. But the chain only had three in CO and the other two struggled I suspect. Hard to keep one in a state if you're a chain. Building is still empty. So, been moving around the last couple of years trying to find a suitable replacement. The great thing about Denver is there is a sports bar on every corner. Nice having that "home" bar but I get by.

I don't frequent bars at all. I'd rather sit back and watch a game at home while drinking infinite amount of beers and educating the 7 year old on the strategies and nuances of the game. My ideal bar atmosphere is usually in a tropical setting. I used to like hanging out at the Square Grouper in Jupiter, FL (bar featured in Alan Jackson 5 o'clock somewhere video). Nowadays the only bars I go to annually are the ones in Key West.

Got a bar I like in a cool but down to earth part of town, that has a great patio and a good list of beers on tap. Also hot chick bartenders. They tend to be alternative types which usually isn't my bag, but typically they are hot enough that it doesn't matter.

Yeah, I don't particularly go to bars these days, particularly for games. Like you I'd rather enjoy in the comfort of my home with much cheaper beverage options.

Close thread you win. No matter what the current bored troll says. That is awesome and F anyone that says less.

Agreed. That is a focking awesome man cave setup; I can't envision why I would find myself in KC on an NFL Sunday but if I did, I would definitely hit you up to crash your place and watch some games.

That's why many posters opted to just describe their favorite bar and what they like about it. HTH

Compared to your 32 incher in your Apt next to the L, sure it's awesome. I was just saying its a bit outdated, but nothing that can't be taken care of quickly.

Needs a renovation. Those tvs from 15 years ago could easily be upgraded to widescreens. A 60 inch and a few 42s would be perfect and not even that expensive. Like less than 2 grand for all 3.

Still a sweet place, just has so much more potential. Also for if you do upgrade...Im personally not a fan of wall mounts. I much prefer standing tvs on simple tables since they are so light.

Vue Bar, upstairs at The D Hotel/Casino in Las Vegas. Cool bartenders, great video poker, couple of TVs, good people watching, and right around the corner from the sports book. Total package.

I did upgrade the tv's a few years ago here's a more recent pic,I'm staying with the cabinets for two reasons, they are incredibly heavy and the builder put in some nice sliding trays behind each door that houses all my cd's,dvd's etc.

Here's last year's Super Bowl Party

I'm not being a , but the TVs are too close together. I'm telling you, get 2 less but go bigger. My friend did it and it was so much easier to watch games. You'll thank me. It is an impressive basement though. I wish mine had the room yours does.
