Christine Michael likely to start vs NYG

Recommended Posts

posted this in the Cmike thread, but figured it deserved its own. 2 of the most in-touch football journalists in DFW--mike fisher and brian broaddus--both claim that michael will start vs NYG. fish is a beat guy, with very close player relationships. broaddus is a former scout for DAL, PHI, and GB, who now works the cowboys' official site. both of these guys' credibility is very high.

This is going to be one of the most epic dissapointments or biggest firestarting hype machines weve seen.

Ultimately - unless Cassel can look like a real NFL qb and pose some kind of air threat, we still see 9 in the box and the running game will stall, as will drives.

Or it could turn the season around for this team for what, a 7th rounder? I get all the hype/bust talk, He hasn't proven anything. But in all fairness dude hasn't been given a chance.

I hope they run the wheels off the kid to see what they got.

Dude is a freak of nature talent wise. If you look at his college highlights you' be like damn. I think he forgets the play before they reach the line of scrimmage. Maybe if Dallas holds up the cards with the pictures like they do in college, he will be beast.

Thinking of dropping Knile for him.

Hmmm

Little risk for what could be a much better reward I would do it .

Makes no sense to replace Randle. He's been fine and has not had the touches he deserves.

This is ridiculous.

With no receivers and no QB he has 4tds and is averaging 4 yds a carry. How is this ridiculous? The opposing teams only objective is to stop the run because Weeden sux so bad and he's still doing fine.

It's very safe for the DAL coaching staff to take a risk by giving C Mike the rock right now. If they lose the game (in part) as a result, they can still use the "We didn't have Dez nor Romo" excuse. If they win, or if C Mike does really well, they'll look like geniuses, plus they'll have gotten to see what they got in C Mike.

I agree in that I do not believe Randle really got a fair shake in terms of a steady diet of 20+ touches. If Randle got that many touches consistently, with that O-line I think he'd have done just fine. Possibly even McFadden. Anyhow, I hope C Mike gets a ton of carries on SUN as I have him on one of my teams! :overhead:

It's ridiculous bcoz even in the eye test he stinks it up. I'm not a trained scout and even I can tell he spends way too much time dancing around. Every time his 1st instinct is to bounce it to the outside - with our big ass line, that's not where the hole is.

Even if you don't believe me, I'd certainly take what Bryan Broaddus has to say to heart. Anyone from around here or who closely follows the team will know who he is...... He openly makes the same remarks - citing how often Randle misses the hole created altogether... For lack of a better phrase - Randle runs like a poosay, scared to the line. He has happy feet and that's just not going to cut it.

He has 74 attempts for 289 yards (3.9 YPC). In the Atlanta game his first three rushes went for 85 yards. Take those runs out and you have 71 attempts for 204 yards (2.87 YPC).

He simply does not hit the hole hard, and dances around in the backfield too much. He can't close out games in the 4th quarter. THAT is why he isn't going to be the starter anymore.

completely this--he does not move the chains, which is the basis of DAL's entire offense. without consistent 4 yard runs, popping a few big ones will not result in success.

The boys are missing their bell cow. Randle is best served as a CoP back. He had his chance. Time to see what CMike can do. Hopefully he can make something happen, but my doubts center more on poor QB play than anything else. Romo needs to get back soon else this season is lost.

Opportunity and potential talent.

This is all you can ask for in a mid-season free agent RB.

The kid knows that his opportunities are drying up fast.

Could pay huge dividends.

You could be right.

and Cassel has the deck stacked against him somewhat.

That being said, Cassel Can read a defense and make the right call. but with Dez out, that offense isnt gonna be where it needs to be. And I'd say this even with Romo at the wheel.

If I was the Defensive Coordinator for the other team, I would stack the box and force him to throw the ball just because I'm not convinced they can beat em through the air.

Either way, we will soon see.

I have CMike, and if Hyde cant go I may need to rely upon him to be one of my RB's (we start 2)

the prospect scares me a bit, but I'm also excited to see what he can do as a starter in Dallas. Either way, I'll watch the game with interest even if Hyde plays.

Gets comical seeing all the new people being mentioned at RB every week, my leagues cost money to make transactions. If 1 was to think about it, the right back this year would be a handful of people. For the wrong back you better take your shoes off.

you're missing the point. some offenses can survive an inconsistent ground game. the DAL offense cannot. that's the garrett is always talking about 'dirty yards'--2 and 3 yard gains that look ugly, but accumulate. a mix of long gainers and no gainers/TFLs simply doesn't work with this offense.

I guess the question is: Is CMike the type of back that will get it done?

Isnt that what we have been discussing? No one knows. You have a 50 50 shot at guessing either yes or no.

I don't see Cmike being the soul number one rb going forward , and because of that he is no better than a flex player some weeks . Randle is still going to work and McFadden is the third down rb .

Christine Michael's career high in yards (71) was coincidentally vs NYG in 2014. Had 4 attempts incl. runs of 45 & 18 yds.

I think the guy that's going to emerge here is McFadden, particularly in PPR. Randle has two (!) third down touches on the year and Michael has 1 (!!) career reception in 16 NFL games. I'm sure DAL will try to get the running game working early and often, but Giants are allowing (only) 93 YPG on the ground. Meanwhile they've allowed the 6th most receptions to RB's and the 4th most yardage.

He's a no brainer flex play for guys with RB bye week issues. Unless Michael breaks some long ones he has an abysmal (should we call it the basement?) in comparison to McFadden who by all indications from the NE game (10 targets, 9 receptions) is now the long yardage and receiving back. Dunbar was ranking out in top 20 PPR pre-injury on this very site, while this week McFadden was barely on the first page. (1 Reception?)
