mmmmm...beer 812 Posted June 24, 2016 I put 200k from retirment into our "F" Fund last week. It's essentially AGG (bonds). When everything else plummeted today... I'm up $.60+ a share or a bit over a half percent... I know all of us watching enough who pulled out of the market last week are really wondering how deep this will tumble into next week so we can dive headfirst back in on the rally... but as I'm in Europe starting next Wednesday for 2 weeks I'mean not going to focking with it and may just keep it all in bonds. Ordering Euros for my trip today... going to wait to exchange until next week before we go. Want to see how well the dollar is going to even out with the euro... iam90sbaby 2,659 Posted June 24, 2016 Wahhhhh... your breaking my heart. This isn't long term hold... cripes. Yep. This is the process in a nutshell http://s1.dmcdn.net/G9-bV/1280x720-cLT.jpg Funniest part is the Federal Reserve isn't owned by the government, its owned by shareholders (who really controls the world, it even says on their website they pay a 6% dividend) and whenever they want more money, they just print it. Point being, its all a scam, buy gold and silver.

Bert 1,128 Posted June 24, 2016 I have, silver is worth something, that paper isn't, I would never sell my silver for "paper" silver goes way up, I trade it palladium when its down, palladium goes back up, I move that to more silver or gold etc... ride the wave man, that paper isn't worth sh*t. USD = currency Precious Metals = Money Big difference. Are you a commodities trader?

Baker Boy 1,704 Posted June 24, 2016 Yes I know its importance. Who physically hands you money in exchange for your silver when you decide to sell it because its worth more than you paid for it? Who buys high? Buy/Sellers work on a margin, now stop making a fool of yourself.
nobody 2,733 Posted June 24, 2016 If it was only about the commercial value of silver for use in electronics and whatnot, it would probably be 5 bucks an oz.

nobody 2,733 Posted June 24, 2016 Probably less than that. All I'm saying is bitcoin is fiat currency just as much as the US dollar is except with bitcoin it won't just be bankers with the ability to destroy economies over 20 years, but it'll be hackers who can wipe out half the world's wealth in a few keystrokes. Not exactly better. And the only reason gold or silver are valued as highly as they are is because people think gold and silver are pretty. They're just metals with names. Their intrinsic value from their industrial applications and their durability is no where near their prices.

But with all these other countries possibly leaving the EU, and the Pound crashing, many Europeans will surely turn to Bitcoin and/or silver and gold. The second statement is absolutely ludicrous. gocolts 300 Posted June 25, 2016 Does using Bitcoin put you on some government watch list or some shtt?? Is that Bitcoin really safe to use??? What if I need it to buy something online soon(Over the next couple of months), is it still a good idea to buy some now??? I mean I can use other forms of payment most any other time, but once in a while, the Bitcoin would make it so much easier. Have you actually used Bitcoin before and if yes, were you satisfied with the outcome of the transaction???
jerryskids 6,930 Posted June 25, 2016 The second statement is absolutely ludicrous. No it wasn't. All currencies are fiat currencies at this point. A malleable, ductile metal is no more special than any other number of supporting assets.

But who cares we are all probably on it with the stuff talked about in the Geek Club. Its becoming more and more stable. Right now it is a pain in the a** to buy something online with Bitcoin, not many people know this but eBay is about to start accepting Bitcoin, that will be HUGE in the value of Bitcoins. Coinbase has local merchants built into the app who accept Bitcoin for payment. Its easy as hell, its EXACTLY like PayPal except in Bitcoin not USD. Even just $500 is worth it at this point and just sit on it, there is no freaking telling what it could be in 20 years. As nobody mentioned earlier it could be worth nothing because hackers destroy it or a country could adopt it as their currency and its game on.

But with all these other countries possibly leaving the EU, and the Pound crashing, many Europeans will surely turn to Bitcoin and/or silver and gold. The second statement is absolutely ludicrous. I've still never heard a good reason why gold and silver are supposed to be so valuable. They're Rare! True, that satisfies the supply portion, but the demand portion shouldn't necessarily be living up to it's cost if it's only based on it's intrinsic value as a metal. Just being rare doesn't make something inherently valuable. Gold is a good conductor! That's true, but electricity has only been harnessed for a couple 100 years or so. That doesn't explain why the Egyptians valued it so much or why it seems most civilizations value it. I mean other than it's pretty. Gold doesn't corrode! True, that makes it a good metal to use as a coin. That might be why people started treating it like money. That doesn't mean it actually is money. In fact, it's only value exists if someone is willing to give you something for that metal in hopes of trading the metal for some other thing that has value (food, shelter, building materials, etc). Gold can't be created - Well kind of. In 500 years we'll be mining the moon and Mars and comets and sh¡t. In essence, wealth is basically created every time someone finds a vein of gold in the ground. On a large scale, what happens if we're on the gold standard and we find some solid gold near earth asteroid? Oh that's right, gold will go the way of the diamond and some corporation will meter out the supply artificially propping up it's value. (sound familiar?)
