TimmySmith 2,782 Posted July 29, 2017 Has to be founded in America and not fronted by essentially a solo artist. No Bruce. No SRV. etc. 1. Allman Brothers 2. Eagles 3. Lynyrd Skynyrd 4. Aerosmith 5. Dead

Voltaire 5,202 Posted July 30, 2017 I'd not realized how hard this was to do taking out the solo artists and the Brits. Eagles Aerosmith Journey Boston Chicago Metallica and Van Halen are likely more popular but I've mellowed since I was 21.

Guess I'll go with the Eagles, we could use a little southern flair in any amerkun list. I think CSNY qualifies as American. They met and formed in Laurel Canyon, and were a huge part of that California scene. They also wrote one of the great protest songs of the 60's (Ohio.) I'm fairly sure all of their albums were recorded in America.
