I don't.  The guy hurt race relations in this country at a time when they are already very volatile.  He also wasted thousands of hours of police time investigating his false statements which, in Chicago, is especially problematic given their crime/murder situation.  When found out, he lied and obstructed justice and wasted who knows how much additional time/resources to prosecute him.  I only wish the charges could have been more severe and the sentence stiffer than the options the judge has.

I checked out a liberal politics forum on this issue since we have a verdict.  Their crazed liberal king poster who is untouchable is arguing that a speedy and public trial is guaranteed by the 6th amendment, and the fact that this Smollett trial has taken about 3 years means Smollett's constitutional rights have been violated and so all charges should be dropped and Smollett should walk.  Everyone else is walking on eggshells on the forum trying to politely disagree as much as possible because if you confront him you get banned lol.

I don’t think that retard understands that trials take time. Especially big name trials like this one. Add to the fact covid happened and stopped a lot of trials from happening right away it should be clear as to why. But then again, the guys is a liberal retard so common sense and actual brains go out the window

I heard a report where a lawyer said it is hard to say you were sorry for what you did and ask for a lighter sentence when you just took the strand and lied.   I think he might have to spend a few months behind bars.

I do think he deserves to serve some time.  

His actions gave at least some temporary, and perhaps some longer term, credence to the lie of white supremacy and racism that the racial hucksters love to use. For that alone he should be punished to the fullest extent.

...and the fact that Michelle Obama was the reason for the delay.  She was the one who got the DA to drop the charges.  It then caused the Feds to get involved.  Once you do that... well, we saw them take 3 years to get the Mueller report and that was fabricated to get as much guilt as they could create, so the Smollett situation was lightning in comparison.
