MTSkiBum 1,594 Posted November 18, 2020 I am going fish in matagorda bay Thursday night and Friday morning and I need to sleep in my truck. What is the best way, in the passenger seat leaned back? In the back seats folded flat? Or in the bed of a truck? I will be at a campground and it will be low of 63 with a 20% chance of rain. I would normally take my wife's suv, however I have to tow my buddies boat this time.
Fnord 1,141 Posted November 18, 2020 Do you have a topper or tonneau cover on the truck? I've slept in the bed of mine many times, including nights with temps in the teens, and liked it way more than trying to sleep in a seat. But I have a tonneau. Not sure if I'd do it exposed if rain is a possibility.
vuduchile 1,941 Posted November 18, 2020 Air mattress in the bed of the truck under the stars. If it rains, plan b is driver’s seat leaned back.

Passenger seat or back seat is best. Where are you fishing?

KSB2424 3,083 Posted November 18, 2020 I’d take a pillow, blanket and lay the passenger seat all the way back.

Hawkeye21 1,854 Posted November 18, 2020 These are awesome. I’ve seen a few guys use them for kayak tourneys. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KCFKPX0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_t1_YziTFb09F28CF Something simple like this might work for sleeping inside the truck. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01EKT08U8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_t1_9AiTFbW774JT4

My buddy's cousin lives in Port Lavaca so I had a nice place to stay. Some nice reds and trout. My prize was two 16+ inch flounder. We ate one the day after I got back. It was so good! It was kind of an old school flash back....we were catching reds on gold spoons with the little red plastic "eyes".

Gladiators 1,904 Posted November 18, 2020 I’d recommend a fifth of vodka.
MTSkiBum 1,594 Posted November 18, 2020 25 minutes ago, Bert said: What have you been throwing? Soft plastics with rattle head jigheads around the marshes for reds, live shrimp under corks around the shallow structures for sheepshead, and live shrimp on the bottom around the wells for black drum. We caught many types of fish recently with good luck everywhere. I hope it continues. I hope to get a flounder this next trip, they are migrating, but I am new to wear matagorda bay. Fnord 1,141 Posted November 18, 2020 1 hour ago, MTSkiBum said: I have a tonneau cover, but that is a tight fit? Depends on how much room you have to reserve for gear. I slid it all over to one side and used a small air mattress on top of my BedRug. Just barely enough room to close the tailgate. Definitely won't work if you're over 6' tall or have a shorter bed on your rig. Claustrophobia may also be an issue if you're prone to that.

BiPolarBear 476 Posted November 18, 2020 It sounds like the Gulf is the place to go. Matagorda Bay is over 300 miles from me in Fort Worth, but the fishing could make for a good trip.
