Who said that?  He did it to score political points with the anti-woke crowd, and not much will likely end up coming from it

It was hyperbole, but you know that.    Just like you know there was a whole bunch of people who jumped all over the "RDS is going to regret taking on Disney" bandwagon.    So, yes - congratulations - no one said he was committing political suicide.   I am sure you will be a hero in the teacher's lounge for pointing out hyperbole. . .

I asked a simple question based off of what you said in trying to create hyperbole to create a strawman to argue against. Wasn't being confrontational. You chose the condescension route.

Maybe take some Xanax?

I just checked a few of my posts in that thread, looks like the closest thing I said was it’s not going to help him win over independent voters.  Which I’d stand by.  But he won’t need many more independent voters with how bad Biden is (assuming Biden runs).  I already proclaimed him as the next President after his Martha’s Vineyard stunt.

Most of the other criticism was related to the financials, saying it may not even save them (Florida taxpayers) any money.

political parties exist to win elections.  Trump lost in 2016 and the red wave failed in 2020.  I think Desantis should be considered the favorite.

The big issue is breaking the blue wall again.  As I have said before, Trump showed how to break the blue wall.  The traditional conservative message of "freedom for all" is not enough to win Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan.  Trump showed how to do it in 2016.  You change the message slightly and specifically offer things in exchange for votes.  Trump said if elected, he would fight the bureaucracy to get cheaper prescription drugs.  He said if elected, he'd fight the bureaucracy to bring jobs back.  That was enough to flip those states.

For Desantis to win in 2024, he needs to make sure that part of his message is fighting the bureaucracy / government red tape to deliver something in exchange for the public's vote.

But when Democrats say "Student loan forgiveness for all" it is bad because they are just trying to buy votes?

🤣

Also, Trump flipped those seats because people were anti-Clinton in states that lost a lot business in the fallout of the late 90's, early 2000s deal making.

Someone is BIG MAD down in Florida:

Quote

“NewsCorp, which is Fox, the Wall Street Journal, and the no longer great New York Post (bring back Col!), is all in for Governor Ron DeSanctimonious, an average REPUBLICAN Governor with great Public Relations, who didn’t have to close up his State, but did, unlike other Republican Governors, whose overall numbers for a Republican, were just average—middle of the pack—including COVID, and who has the advantage of SUNSHINE, where people from badly run States up North would go no matter who the Governor was, just like I did!”

Ron came to me in desperate shape in 2017—he was politically dead, losing in a landslide to a very good Agriculture Commissioner, Adam Putnam, who was loaded up with cash and great poll numbers. Ron had low approval, bad polls, and no money, but he said that if I would Endorse him, he could win.

I didn’t know Adam so I said, “Let’s give it a shot, Ron.” When I Endorsed him, it was as though, to use a bad term, a nuclear weapon went off. Years later, they were the exact words that Adam Putnam used in describing Ron’s Endorsement. He said, “I went from having it made, with no competition, to immediately getting absolutely clobbered after your Endorsement.” I then got Ron by the “Star” of the Democrat Party, Andrew Gillum (who was later revealed to be a “Crack Head”), by having two massive Rallies with tens of thousands of people at each one.

I also fixed his campaign, which had completely fallen apart. I was all in for Ron, and he beat Gillum, but after the Race, when votes were being stolen by the corrupt Election process in Broward County, and Ron was going down ten thousand votes a day, along with now-Senator Rick Scott, I sent in the FBI and the U.S. Attorneys, and the ballot theft immediately ended, just prior to them running out of the votes necessary to win. I stopped his Election from being stolen…

“The Fake News asks him if he’s going to run if President Trump runs, and he says, ‘I’m only focused on the Governor’s race, I’m not looking into the future,'” Trump wrote. “Well, in terms of loyalty and class, that’s really not the right answer.”

This is just like 2015 and 2016, a Media Assault (Collusion!), when Fox News fought me to the end until I won, and then they couldn’t have been nicer or more supportive. The Wall Street Journal loved Low Energy Jeb Bush, and a succession of other people as they rapidly disappeared from sight, finally falling in line with me after I easily knocked them out, one by one. We’re in exactly the same position now. They will keep coming after us, MAGA, but ultimately, we will win. Put America First and, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

Just my opinion, of course.  But I think this is a really good point and I hope RDS campaigns/acts accordingly:

This.

This is how he "broke the blue wall".  If Hillary didn't fall into her car in and Comey didn't float that "surprise" in Oct...of 2016, Trump wouldn't even have broken the wall in 16.

Nah. One of two things will happen- either Ron stays aside and lets Donald have his run or Ron runs now and wipes out Trump. I don't think Trump runs his own campaign outside of that because he would have to actually foot his own money for it.

His best move is to steer clear of 2024 and wait for at least 2028. Whoever gets 2024 is inheriting a complete mess.

Not necessarily. It does look like there is some Trump fatigue going on but he still has his base. If the rest is split between a bunch of candidates, it will be an uphill climb for DeSantis to get to a percentage that is greater than Trumps.

Be careful thinking Trump is a loser.  He's the last Republican President (as recently as two years ago) and first since George W Bush (which was long time ago).

Run DeSantis. Younger voters are taking over. They are woke AF, and will have no use for him.

I would say it’s going to be funny watching the in-fighting between Republicans for the next 2 years, but I don’t want Biden to have 4 more years.

In 2020 the Republicans gained 14 seats in the house.

Crazy how these are all Trump "losses".

RealClearPolitics has just begun covering DeSantis as a national figure in its favorability ratings. DeSantis is the only one with a net positive rating at +6.  41% favorable, 35% unfavorable.  Biden is the next closest at -9.6% with 42.4% favorable and 52% unfavorable. Trump is -14.4% at 39.6 / 54

That’s a weird metric. Biden actually has a higher percent favorable than DeSantis.
