DESANTIS 2024!!! Ron DeSantis

Recommended Posts

its still way early but if DeSantis got the nomination in 2024, the early polling data suggests that Kamala Harris would do much better than Biden.  But you have to wonder if populist Trump was not on the ticket, would blue collar voters drift back to the democratic party?

ex-nuke.

it looks like support for ukraine is going to crater, and that may have a huge impact on who wins the 2024 nomination.  where do the candidates stand?

trump: the invasion would not have happened if i was still president.  we need to broker peace asap.
desantis:  bidens fault because biden looked too weak . trump did a great job.
all other candidates:  cheering for war

and then there is tucker carlson, who is taking the lead on the issue and heavily criticizing the war and wondering where the billions of dollars are going and what is the real purpose of it all.

honestly, tucker carlson might miny himself as a presidential candidate if support for ukraine collapses and the house investigates where the cash went.

If DeSantis gets elected all that will happen is Florida will go to sh!t and the federal government will be in grid lock for 4 years. Better he just stays governor where he is actually making a difference.  You guys are gonna need somewhere to retire.

People flee NY to California too. I suspect weather is a much more likely reason than politics.

And you’re right, DeSantis is certainly popular. But that’s not the same as suggesting he’s been a good governor. He hasn’t. Florida is going to have a ton of problems over the next few decades dealing with climate change issues. More than most states it’s going to have to deal with the extreme weather conditions of which that last hurricane is only a small preview. The priority of the state government should be to prepare for what’s coming and he hasn’t done this. To DeSantis’ credit he did a decent job when the last hurricane hit, he displayed a level of competence at leadership that his main opponent for the Republican nomination notably lacks. But overall, IMO, he’s been dreadful. Spends way too much time attacking woke issues to make his base happy than trying to solve actual problems.

Chris Sununu is the better choice.  Tell my why I am wrong.  I am wanting to hear opposition.

I’m surprised. I agree. Sununu is the sort of Republican I and many other moderate Democrats might vote for if the Democratic candidate ended up being a Bernie type. I could never support DeSantis.

However, neither Sununu nor DeSantis is a racist, and therefore I’m rather stunned you would support either of them.

So the coast guard. Let me repeat that for the left, the coast guard, a federal agency, called the governors office for help. The Biden admin and the diversity hire label it a political stunt by Desantis. These people have no shame.

She is the worst high profile government official I have ever seen at her job. I would feel sorry for her if she didn’t have such a shitty attitude.

It's gridlock if it's any GOP president, doesn't matter who.  If there isn't gridlock its always the Republicans bending a knee not the Democrats.

All for it. As long as the investigations go on. Even though they most likely will  end up as political theatre. Still want it. Time for a lesson to be taught.

Lefties like to post data about how awesome their states rank... as they sit in a moving van ready to drive to a functioning, vibrant red state.

Or it could be what it’s always been about: people from the north retire to Florida. Not sure why it is suddenly political now. Yankees spring training in Florida is a huge draw because of all the New Yorkers that retire there.

I did some searching and found that United Van Lines has tracked this for decades. Top reasons for moving: retirement, being closer to family, or a new job.

https://www.unitedvanlines.com/newsroom/movers-study-2021

Interesting in their latest numbers: used to be 60% of people moved because of a new job. After COVID, that number is about 30%. I know a lot of people whose jobs are completely remote work now. Overall moving is down quite a bit from pre-pandemic levels.

Thanks for sharing this data, lots of interesting trends to think about…

I jumped into the discussion late. Point is, most people don’t move because of politics. Job, family, and retirement are the biggest reasons. Florida has done well as a retirement location due to the weather, but they also figured out they should have no income tax, making up the difference by taxing tourists and property.

What you fail to realize is it's good for family and jobs because of it's politics.

Which state doesn't have property tax?

  • Thanks 1
