KSB2424 3,148 Posted May 25, 2022 Our country is to politically divided to do what's necessary. A full clean white board (metaphorically speaking), to do a root cause analysis on the "WHY" this happens without bias.. Dems will just yell at guns, the media will just yell white supremacy or hide it when its not a white person. Republicans will talk about border control or just say people are crazy. All of these have some merit but there isn't one reason or solution. Just a horrible tragedy.

We don't know anything about it but we do know this is a Sandy Hook level tragedy. Take a break on making it political. Be the better person than those who drag this kind of stuff into the political sewer. Somehow we have to get a handle on disturbed people getting their hands on guns. This has gone too far. Good thread Mass. Most of us on here are mature enough to look past the politics, it's just a terrible, unforgivable tragedy. "Those poor kids"...........I agree with that. What's gonna happen next? It's something every day. The world is really becoming a place that echoes what Jim Valvano would tell his team before playoff games back in 1983-"SURVIVE AND ADVANCE". Issue pistols with juice boxes? FEDERAL LAW AND GUN-FREE SCHOOL ZONES And this brings us to federal law. Isn’t there a prohibition about carrying in a Gun-Free School Zone? The Federal Gun-Free School Zones law prohibits individuals from knowingly possessing a firearm that has moved through interstate commerce (which is virtually all firearms) in or on the grounds or within 1,000 feet of a public, parochial, or private school, unless an exception applies. The most common exceptions to the Federal Gun-Free School Zones laws in Texas are: Living within 1,000 feet of a school, so long as the person is not prohibited from possessing a firearm on their private property; Being a Texas LTC holder. Note this does not apply to Texas residents who hold a non-resident license or handgun permit from another state; or Carrying a firearm that is securely locked. Hardcore troubadour 15,518 Posted May 25, 2022 Just like hijacking’s stopped when the cockpits were locked, once the kids are in the school every door should be locked and the main entrance should be manned. People have way too easy access to the schools. There are protocols in place, where if someone is coming to the school they have to have an appointment. No one adheres to it. Parents dropping off lunches, forgotten homework and on and on. Every day. Parents showing up with no appointment, and the staff, usually the Fockin guidance counselors, tell security it’s ok, let them in. Principal backs them up. Never mind the line of cars dropping off kids because god forbid they ride the bus. It’s a mess. Kids wandering in 2 hours late, no excuse. Parents dropping off kids at 6:30, school starts at 7:25. wiffleball 4,790 Posted May 25, 2022 Here's one idea. Just one. I'm not saying it's the best idea. But either come up with a suggestion or shut the f******. So here's a thought. We have about 10 million people between the military and the 70,000 different various police forces in this country. Now just hear me out on this. Instead of paying so-called soldiers to make their bed and get ribbons and metals for doing so correctly? Instead of paying dim witted Larry the Cable guy police to give us tickets for having expired license plates? Maybe we reallocate those forces. America has more people on payroll for our military and thousands of different police forces than even china. And God bless Mungwater? But he hasn't done anything of value militarily in the last 20 years. And he's getting paid every month. And he's typical. I live in a military town with at least nine different bases. Not counting the hundreds of ancillary civilian spin-offs. I sit there and listen to their meetings in various restaurants and pizza parlors and burger joints and whatnot. Best I can tell? Our military mid leadership? Makes most corporate human resources department look like f****** rambo. But if China ever learns powerpoint, game on buddy! It's called tactical resource allocation. We have a string of aircraft carriers that even the Navy doesn't f****** want. Do yourself a favor and look up the USS George Washington just for a little bit of education. Jesus, it has been and continues to be a shitshow for years. And we got two others right behind it. And don't even get me started on the literal combat ship system. The Navy's trying to decommission them Faster than we can crack the champagne bottle on their hull. So, point of fact. We have the resources, the money, and the ability to drastically reduce the level of violence at so-called soft targets. But instead we keep 29,000 soldiers on a joint combat base that sees neither combat nor joints. Good boy, can they March pretty. And we pay a billion dollars a year for them to be there. And in 100 other bases just like them. And that's just in this country. And that doesn't count the 70,000 other quasi-military pseudocompetent mildly retarded various so-called police forces in this country. Again, that outnumbers the chinese in every regard. And just to throw the last nail in the coffin? How many shootings have there been on military bases? You know why? One, because we don't allow God damn weapons on military bases. Even with our combat soldiers. Contrary to popular belief, they're not exactly walking around within M50s strapped to their nipples and Rambo knives clinched between their teeth. Two, because we have people trained to take out weapon wielding ON MILITARY BASES. Here's a crazy thought; Let's put them in our f****** schools! Let our highly trained combat ready soldiers fend for themselves instead of requiring our 5 year olds to do so. God damn it. THIS HONEST TO GOD AIN'T THAT F****** HARD. Not perfect. But not f****** hard. And stop acting like we are somehow powerless victims of Thanos and the second amendment.
