MDC 8,084 Posted May 28, 2022 How often (times per year) do you brings your kid / kids to a sporting event?
BunnysBastatrds 2,705 Posted May 28, 2022 When my daughter was a kid, my Cool Pops and I brought her to Saints games. The first game I brought her to she was five. She loved it but fell asleep at half time because of all the excitement. Lil Bunny was worn out. We decided to leave in the beginning of the third quarter. I was holding her whilst she was snoozing. Was walking out the entrance from our seats and Drew threw a TD. I turned around to see and Cool Pops took a picture of her and I. Her beautiful sleeping face with the field and crowd in the background. One of my favorite memories and pictures of us. Pops was misty eyed. 2
KSB2424 3,174 Posted May 28, 2022 We go to one family Canes (NHL) game every year. And normally one UNC basketball and UNC football game. That’s about it. My 10 year old loves baseball and the Braves so looking into maybe a trip down there this summer. Its so expensive though. I hate nosebleed sections so splurge when we go. Add that with parking and kids always want some swag from the team store.

Cdub100 3,996 Posted May 28, 2022 We have season tickets to the local minor league baseball team. We used to go to major league events like Pistons, Lions, tigers, and Red Wings but I don't want to support those organizations anymore.

Then parking, food etc.
jerryskids 7,192 Posted May 28, 2022 My kids are in their 20s now. Oldest (son) and middle (daughter) are huge sports fans for the local AZ teams. We'll usually go to a game or two for the Suns and DBacks each year. Maybe a Cards game although we did that more in the past. Never gone to a Coyotes game with them. Hell, I've only gone to one since they moved on the other side of town a long time ago (they are working on a new stadium which may be much closer, I hope so). Both of them are graduated and have good jobs, so they are starting to reciprocate. For example, my son took his mom to a Suns game as a Christmas present this year. Youngest daughter isn't a big sports fan but doesn't hate them; we occasionally take her to things like a DBacks game for Father's Day if the whole family goes. She has a good enough time but it isn't a passion, so we don't typically take her to other events which cost more.
Gladiators 2,035 Posted May 28, 2022 Couple times a year now that they’re older and getting more interested. Took my boys to their first Packer game last fall and they loved it. We’ve been to some minor league baseball games in the past, but they weren’t interested. We are going to the Bayern Munich vs Manchester City game at Lambeau in July. That should be an awesome time. TommyGavin 790 Posted May 28, 2022 Honestly as much as I love sports I cannot be a season ticket holder. I enjoy a few games a year. Islanders and Mets. Giants game on occasion. I remember OP saying his son is 10 from another thread - when my younger one was 10 we had Brooklyn Cyclones season tickets and one game he was chosen to announce the players coming up to bat. A memory he will never forget (me neither).

Fireballer 2,693 Posted May 29, 2022 Pro? Not much, maybe 1 baseball and 1 football game per year. We've got a variety of D1 schools within an hour with football, baseball, basketball, lacrosse, etc. Also, a few minor league baseball games per year.
DonS 3,330 Posted May 29, 2022 Son is 3.5 hrs away so we dont do sporting events together anymore but we do get together for concerts. Currently texting from a venue right now in preparation for a show. My daughter still lives nearby and we have season tickets for Seattle Sounders matches. She can't go to every match due to her work schedule but we manage to catch several matches a year. I also go to shows with her as well. Saw same band with her in Seattle 2 nights ago. huskyhater75 242 Posted May 29, 2022 My name is don trump, and I NEVER saw ANY advantage for ME to take my lying, two-faced (my little chip off the old block) Son (of a WHAT) to an actual contest where there was actually a winner and LOSER declared at the end. I'll never understand the true meaning of "FAIR COMPETITION" where someone wins-and there's NO whining and cheating accusations from me.................ERRRRRRRRRRRRRR, "JUNIOR, CALL SOMEBODY, FIND US MORE VOTES-I CAN'T AFFORD IT BUT DON'T TELL THEM THAT." Voltaire 5,522 Posted May 30, 2022 I never take my son to sporting events, not out of any convictions, but because the opportunities to do so are limited. There is one event, once a year around here, they shut down the freeways for a day because the community sponsors an international bicycle race. Unfortunately, it's always on a Saturday, which is when I work.
Hardcore troubadour 16,025 Posted May 30, 2022 My kids have actual games five days a week. But will take them to a minor league game this summer or if I get free tickets to a Yankee game. Which I probably will. I’m not sitting with my kids in nose bleeds and I’m not paying the ridiculous prices for good seats until they ask to go. Then I’ll bite the bullet. When he got little league age, just let him go work foul balls. There is a guy on YT he would watch who taught how to be in the right spots. D2 college basketball games are fun, too. Inexpensive. I have a boy who is 15, and two girls (17 & 12). The girls don't care about sports, but I always invite them. The son takes me up on any offer. Not just sports either, but concerts as well. My kids have been to Glass Animals, Alt-J, Dirty Heads, Trampled by Turtles, Radiohead... The only downside is that by going with friends someone else is paying for the other ticket. You have to take care of your kids and anything they want at the concession, so it makes it way more expensive. Still in total just last year, I probably attended a couple concerts, a few Royals games, 2 or 3 Chiefs games (including a playoff game, I think), 7-8 Jayhawk basketball games, and some minor league baseball with the kids. I love taking my kids and sharing those experiences with them, making memories that will certainly last forever.
