It only works if the person complaining isn't a straight white male, otherwise your complaint is just bigoted hate speech.

This one really makes me sad for some reason.

Erasing history or "removing" history doesn't help ANYTHING.

Hopefully this proud complainer is able to get they/their student loan forgiven. I'm sure their degree in gender studies will bring in the big bucks at Starbucks. 💰💰💰

It's what liberals do in institution after institution. One leftoid freak complains and the spineless liberal in charge immediately capitulates rather than tell them to pound sand.

The former newspaper, where that exact thing has happened, New York Times has an article about that today: https://archive.ph/Hw8HR

If that were true, you would have been gone a long time ago.

“Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.”

Makes me sad that the men that fought and died to end slavery are forgotten. And disparaged.

Didn't realize you lived in the Ithaca area.  The more you know. 🌈

I take it the "dont tell me what to do with my body" defense didnt work in this case?

Sorry to hear about this dismissal.

But let’s make up our minds, was the civil war fought to free the slaves or to preserve the Union?  I think we’ve got plenty of proof that most men were not risking their lives for the slave, while many others in fact were.

It's a fact that Lincoln was the president that freed the slaves.  But it's also a fact that slavery was NOT the primary reason we were in civil war.  We were at odds for political control and states rights. The Civil war started after the Confederate took over Fort Sumter in Charleston Harbor. The North was going to starve to death as the South suddenly had control of all the ports. Freeing black people just happened to be trendy with the side that won the war.

So I ask again, what's the point of removing statues? Trying to change and rewrite history?

If the contributions of slaves are forgotten, then let's ADD to what we already have and offer that at the same time as keeping what we have. If you think that negative facts need to be made relevant, then lets talk about it.

Again, REMOVING stuff doesn't HELP anything.

This article is great rage bait.

A professor notices the bust gone a few weeks ago. It was on temporary display and has been gone since 2021. An unnamed librarian says the temporary exhibit is gone cause “someone complained.” No details or names available.

No follow up either if this turns out to be false.

The picture of the empty space where the bust was is a nice touch. Lol

The school admits there was a complaint and it was removed. They haven't commented on the complaint so they have opened the door for speculation.  You wanna make a side bet on the wokeness of the complaint?

Not according to OP’s article. The article says a professor was told by a librarian that someone complained. The university didn’t confirm it.

Is there a better article I missed?

That’s hearsay anyway!  Should’ve went straight to the librarian!

   Nice hair splitting.  With mounting pressure, the "school" will be forced to respond, then we'll know.

Sure. Unless it turns out that the bust was removed for any number of other reasons. Then we get no follow up.

But you get the angry boner you wanted!

Angry boners are great.  At my age the best I can manage is a slightly miffed chubby.

Woof, sorry horse but I thought you were better than this.

The preeminent issues of states rights that precipitated the civil war were about slavery.    The 3/5ths rule, allowing new states in as slave states or not slave states, the return of fugitive slaves, etc.     I am not saying slavery was the only reason for the civil war, there were others.   But slavery was where the rubber met the road for the states rights battles that led to the civil war.    If slavery had not existed - there would not have been a civil war.   It's as simple as that.

Sure that was one of the state's rights being contested, even THE right if you want, but the war started and happened because the South controlled all the ports and the North was going to starve to death.  The war was necessary for survival, not because we we hit an impasse on fighting state's rights.

As soon as we come to grips with this fact the sooner we can stop saying the war was to free the slaves.  It wasn't.

Not sure where you are getting your information.    You know why Boston, New York City, and Philadelphia were big and important cities in the the 19th century?  Because they are large, excellent ports and harbors.   By going thru the Erie Canal and/or the Saint Lawrence seaway you could get to Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, etc.

Did the north "starve" during the civil war?  It went on for over 3 years.   I don't think the confederates were handling a lot of goods in their ports that were destined for the north.
