Him fleeing the state when it was an icy world of hardship and misery here was despicable and cowardly. He should have been out delivering hot meals to the elderly or something.

No, I was at the command center post-Hurricane Rita in Buttmont. I didn't have much to do during the day while reporters were out in the field, so I'd wander over to the command center to see if I could find anything to write about. I follow him down some stairs to the outside, where Sen. John Cornyn is standing there. The senator has arrived, but there was no media there to greet him.

I whipped out my reporter pad and started asking questions. My cell phone rang, and I saw it was my sister calling.

"You need to take that?" he asks. 

"It's my sister, Priscilla (not her real name), " I replied.

He chuckled and said, "Take the phone call and tell her what you're doing."

"OK!" I replied.

RING RING!

Rusty: "Hello?"

Sister Priscilla (not her real name): "Hey, how's it going. What are you doing?"

Rusty: "I'm talking to Sen. John Cornyn."

Priscilla: "No, you're not."

So I handed the phone to Cornyn.

Cornyn: "Hello?"

Priscilla: "Who is this?"

Cornyn: "Sen. John Cornyn. Nice to meet you."

Priscilla: "Oh my. Nice to meet you. I'll let you get back to my brother."

Cornyn: "OK!"

About that time, a TV news cameraman showed up, so I interviewed him some more for whatever station he was from.

Recently, Cornyn came to the city I live in now to speak at an event, and I got to talk about that day, and he remembered.

And that's my John Cornyn story!

Ted Cruz seems to be very weak in character. He has no strong morality or pride and about the only thing he seems to really care about is being re-elected. I do not like him and would never vote for him. Trump really showed what weak money grubber lemmings reside in the Republican Party.
