And the discussion can get pretty good, as long as people are decent with each other. You'll still have people who are racist or bigots sure...but you have people that have the ability to also be more honest and not blow smoke up everyone's assesses. 

Smaller forums tend to be more personal and create closer relationships, the debate is just different. 

A large forum like this that allows for thousands of members, allows members to troll, or have several user names; more disingenuous.

I don’t really do it for the defense of other posters from the statement that was made, mostly just hoping people might think twice before saying something like that in the future (including in real life, although I know most posters here are frauds and wouldn’t say what they say here in real life)

I post on a few other forums, although even less frequently than i post here. There can be good discussion without name calling, but it requires effort from the moderators.

I would imagine many of the posters who are left here have been banned from multiple other sites. Not just at the geek club but also the mange bored has posters that i know have been banned from multiple other sites.

This site allows those people that enjoy trolling more than actual discussion an outlet. So they congregate here.

 

Also fftoday is on the smaller side. It is easily the smallest forum i visit. Thehulltruth right now has 2000 members online compared to 100 right now for fftoday.

A few long-time Geeks have taken a hard right into uncompromising MAGAland, they're mindset polluted by hatred fostered during the Obama administration and whipped into a raging forest fire by each other and the cable-network infoclowns who tell them what they want to hear. They are jointed by a bunch of noobs who share their MAGA view.

They are blissfully ignorant, have no ability to view and understand the big picture and can't engage in intelligent, respectful debate.

They won't accept a simple fact if it goes against the grain of their knuckleheaded paradigm. They can't accept centrists and anything to the left of themselves. Conservatives who don't see the world through their MAGA keyhole get labeled RINOs or whatever.

These MAGAs deserve little more than a fusillade of trolling, albeit trolling based in indisputable facts that go in one ear, bounce around their heads like a pachinko ball and then exit the other ear.

The seeds of facts and reality will find no purchase in their minds.

I’m here and I’ve been here longer than most and I’m liberal, black and a woman. 
I have realized that it’s best to share what you think and don’t get too caught up with the negative comments. 
I think though that you’ll be frustrated if the only thing you want to do is change the minds of others. It’s good when you can also learn from other people’s perspectives even if you disagree. Ignore or bash the racists. However, you’ll be spending way too much time on them because THAT’S MOST OF THE GUYS HERE! 
They are racist because even if they themselves don’t say negative things, they let racism fly here. That says a lot when you can pass by racism unchecked. 98% of the people here don’t call out racist comments.

Uh there have been people admit it…

But yeah, I’m not saying everyone that makes a racist joke is a racist (pretty sure @lickin_starfish is though), but it’s annoying that people will make jokes where the racism is clearly implied even if not overt, and when called out on it (even just on the statement), they try to pretend they didn’t mean anything racial by it and then call the person that called them out on it the real racist, in a non-joking manner.

Debate?  How can there be a debate when two sides operate in a different realities?  In Tim's reality we have:

-The establishment government who always tell the truth and are only concerned with what is best for the people of this country. 

-The establishment  media which has no agenda and only tells the truth.

- Universities who have no political agenda and who are only interested in advancing the truth. 

- A CIA and FBI who have no political agenda and are only concerned about protecting citizens.
