thegeneral 3,699 Posted April 18, 2023 Big Wheel is a pretty good one, that and then a bike, and then eventually a moped were all big deals A basketball was always good. Was really into match box cars and Stompers at one point. I had a Metal Detector at some point which I thought was very cool

My bro and I spent a lot of time at my grandmother's house while my parents worked (1970s), and they brilliantly kept the big box of Legos at Grandma's house and wouldn't let us bring it home. This was before you could (pretty much only I think) by pre-defined kits like modeling kits -- it was a big box of legos and you needed to design and create your masterpiece. We looked forward to playing with those whenever we were stuck inside (rain, mealtime soon). When my kids were young and I struggled to find such generic Legos, we discovered K-nex which I'd describe as Legos but more forgiving/flexible. Loved those with my kids. KSB2424 3,174 Posted April 18, 2023 1. All things NERF. Specifically the football and indoor basketball hanging on the closet door. 2. My backyard had two trees and a basket ball goal that was perfect for first, second and third base. Throw down a frisbee for home and we played Wiffleball with ghost runners for hours every day in the summer. The fence worked out perfect because you could hit it out for a HR but you had to get ahold of one. 3. GI Joes, Transformers

TommyGavin 790 Posted April 18, 2023 70’s. Erector sets. Those metal raw metal pieces - I’d cut myself all the time but I loved creating things especially adding in a small motor. (Lego’s Technics series reminds me of those days).

Lit the cigarette and placed it in a storefront - in the plumbing vent pipe. Went across the street to watch and holy cow it was an explosion and damage beyond what we expected. Same here, I didn't really have any toys. I used to just find stuff around the house to play with. Played with Army men a lot, match box cars. Got an Atari one year for Christmas. When I got older I bought myself a Commodore computer from paper route money.
RLLD 4,282 Posted April 19, 2023 I had a ,22 rifle, would fill old empty milk juggs and the like with water, freeze them, shoot at them....simple and good fun. Helped me a ton later at Marine boot camp, and I point to that expirence as integral to my success at sniper school as well.
