What actor in hollywood under 50yrs old will get you to a theater??

Recommended Posts

Wife and I in the car talking about an ad for the new indiana jones.  We started talking anout the age of "hollywood stars"  people that were going to give a great performance and a great job in character.

Seems like everyone we named was over 60+ years old.

We laughed about Deniro, Pacino, Freeman denzel, Duval, eastwood is 93 lol same with the Ladies..meg ryan, helen mirren, glenn close etc.

Seems like the wimmenz have a better young batch of actresses lately.

Octavia spencer, emily portman, scarjo, alba.

Other than the a few dudes...who can carry a film?  Bradley Cooper..

Seems like cgi is rooning the talent

Directors get me in the doors, not actors.  Im almost guaranteed to show for a film by Christopher Nolan, Wes Anderson, Quentin Tarantino, David Fincher, etc.

Tom Hardy is as good as they come. Check out The Drop for one of the most underrated movies out there

Leonardo, he's running out of time though... I'd know, we're the same age.

I'm not a big theater goer -- I saw Guardians 3 a few weeks ago with my daughter (a fun "dinner/drinks and a movie" place), before that maybe... American Sniper?  (Bradley Cooper)

I do plan to see Oppenheimer though.  Christopher Nolan, plus I took a class recently on the development of the bomb, so I'm interested in Nolan's interpretation.

Thinking about actors, it's funny, but I think Keanu Reeves is a pretty terrible actor but I love many of his movies.  In fact, I'm currently slow-watching a cheesy samurai movie of his (47 Ronin) on Netflix.  Not recommended.   But I appreciate that his works at the martial art, having previously studied them myself.  I may go see John Wick 4 in the theaters.  Hell, I would watch John Wick crochet for two hours, waiting anxiously for him to knit and purl his way through a killing spree.

Jake Gyllenhaal is usually good in most movies but has to be the movie to get me going to the theater. Not many have made me want to go in years.

See, we can agree on something.   I barely know or care who is in a movie before going.  If it's somebody I really like, awesome, but a good director can make it work with anybody.

John Wick 4 is fantastic, I would highly recommend going to the theater if you enjoyed the first 3.

Barely go to the movies anymore, but I’ll rent / watch just about anything with Brendan Gleason.

Most people probably don't realize that he totally qualifies for an under 50 list.

Came in here to say Hardy. Love a lot of his movies, he was fantastic in Peaky Blinders too.

I do not go to the theater at all.  Can not even think of any under 50 I watch on TV.  The only one that came to mind because we watched a few of her movies lately was Sandra Bullock but I googled her and she is older than me.  I've got nothing.

The most bankable star at the moment is Chris Pratt.  Almost everything he touches is gold at this point.  Even in a world where all marvel films are busts, Guardians 3 was a hit.  We're probably at Peak Pratt right now though and fatigue will set in.

Weird, but I guess I don't watch TV shows and sports, so that frees up my time for more movies.   I don't think it's an underestimation to say I watch 300+ a year.

I would put my name in that hat.  I watch very few shows as well.

And none is the answer for me.  Not sure last time I was at the movies.

I watch movies on cable or streaming and very rarely new movies...  The last movie in the theater I watched was Top Gun: Maverick...

Sports is all I watch. The only reason I still have cable.

It does, but I am sure a lot of you watch TV during the week, or sports on the weekend.   I can get in 2 movies to most sporting events (I watch a lot of old and/or short movies at night).   So really, what is the difference if I watch 5 movies in a week or somebody watches 8 hours of football on Sunday?

No real difference.   You don't watch any sports?  That is sort of insane.

I used to watch a TON of football and be in dozens of leagues - that was 15-20 years ago.  I haven't watched watched more than about 30mins of total football since the NE/ATL super bowl, and even that I didn't watch the full game.    I will watch a couple Mariners games a month, but that's about it.  I'd probably watch more if the games weren't so late, so usually if I watch a full game it's when they are travelling and have a 7pm game instead of 9-9:30.   Usually at night I will rip through a short movie before bed, or watch a movie over 2 nights.

I think the last movie I went to was the grinch remake in 2018.  First, most new movies suck, but anything I want to watch I wait until it's available at home.
