Dozer FBG 324 Posted September 2, 2023 RIP I had the good fortune to tour his studio in Key West. It is a blank white building that looks like a utility type deal in the middle of a bunch of tourist shops. I didn’t meet him or anything, but all the stories say he was a genuine nice guy. BunnysBastatrds 2,310 Posted September 2, 2023 I didn’t know of his passing when I got up this morning. Sh!t shower and shaved. Got dressed and put on my Margaritaville shirt I bought in Florida two summers ago at his hotel. My favorite long sleeve t-shirt. Strange coincidence. Tree of Knowledge 1,699 Posted September 2, 2023 Sounds like he had been in and out of hospital since May? Probably cancer. I’m glad I made it to a concert when he was in the area a few years ago. RIP
Hardcore troubadour 14,923 Posted September 2, 2023 Just really got into him the last five years or so. Always thought his fans were goofy. Went to see him at Jones beach two years ago and Bethel Woods ( woodstock) last year. Great times and the people were awesome. Not a full fledged parrot head but I wish I had become one years ago. I was looking forward to seeing him again. Sucks.

Open air bar and bamboo chairs and hammocks. His sister Lucy has a fantastic hamburger restaurant in Gulf Shores Alabama. Best cheeseburger I’ve ever had. If anyone seemed like they could go on forever it is was him.

RIP Jimmy Me and the wife got in huge “fight” last night (we still aren’t talking) she played a version (I think it was Johnny Carson in 1981) and Jimmy sung “it’s my own fault” in all 3 chorus but that was not the progression of the song. Sometimes I hate her.

I like how Jimmy does it so much better... first time it's nobody's fault, second time it could be his fault, third time is when he finally comes to grips with the truth. 1

Jimmy Buffet: Margaritaville - YouTube I won't hold you to that offer, maybe if you insist, but yeah... this is the version I know. At the 1:00, 2:00, and 3:30 he's unwinding his "some people claim" and there are three different lyrics as the truth bubbles up... "nobody's fault", "could be my fault", and "it's my own damn fault". Maybe other versions have only one... if so, he shouldn't have recorded them, this way is so much better. The move from denial to acceptance is appreciated.
KSB2424 3,148 Posted September 4, 2023 The cool thing about Jimmy Buffet was he couldn’t be pigeon holed. Why? Because he was authentic. Honestly, one of a kind. A songwriter that was folk, country, Reggae, Americana and a dash of pop plus more. One may love his music, or not……but no person can HATE it. It’s impossible to do so. BeenHereBefore 1,454 Posted September 4, 2023 Jimmy changes who's fault it is many times in his concerts and have blamed band member's at times. Anyways love his live album You Had To Be Here from a 70's concert at Atlanta. Been listening to the album since 91. Chics back then made funny of me for listening to it but Cheese Burger In Paradise got to them, they kept asking me to play the cheese burger song lol. Anyhow still love that live album and listen to it when I work out at times.
