War in Israel

If I remember correctly, their choices have always or mostly been between the PLO or Hamas. Both are extremist groups if not outright terrorist organizations. I know Hamas is. Not sure if the PLO is considered one anymore??

Eta: so yes, I'd say most Palestinians are extremists. And I'd say that confidently.

This is a great post.  I was going to post something similar  if @TimHauck has some information on a "moderate" political organization in Gaza that supports a two state solution and doesn't want Israel destroyed, I'd love to read about it so links would be appreciated!

I have always wondered at the voting patterns of American Jews.  They strongly favor Democrats and have throughout my life.  I wonder whether recent events might change that.  I doubt it will as the pattern has seemed impervious to factors I might consider, such as the recent developments.  Maybe someone can explain to me why the pattern exists, and if it is likely to persist.  I have to figure it is based on some factor which has never occured to me, some immutable factor.

WTF are you talking about?  I never said there was a moderate political organization in Gaza, and specifically said it's likely that the majority does support Hamas.   I simply said it's misleading to say the current residents of Gaza elected Hamas since the last election was in 2005.

I don't think it's misleading at all unless you have some shred of evidence that things would be any different with another viable political organization in power.   When Hamas dragged Israeli bodies through the streets people gathered like it was a parade and cheered.  The Palestinians support Hamas so whether there have been recent elections or not is irrelevant and just intended to sidetrack the conversation from the atrocious acts they are committing.

It's not really intended to sidetrack the conversation considering the point that "Hamas was elected" is usually first raised as a point against Palestine...

History of Palestinian elections have always favored extremists. I doubt they would have shifted towards a more "moderate" party. Ever. Not after 2005 and not now. 👍

Right, hence why I made sure to include the words "viable political organization" when describing what the alternative to Hamas might be.  Because we know people like the Tim's will find some niche group of 5 people huddling in a basement and say "well if these people were in power this wouldn't have happened."  But the viable people who could win an election in Palestine are all like minded.

Again, if I remember correctly, Arafat was the last Palestinian leader to call for a two state solution and Israel's right to exist. It took him a couple decades of terrorism and then realizing he wasn't going to defeat Israel before he shifted though. So after he died they elect Hamas and quickly disbanded elections and now have multiple terrorist organizations in their territory. All in which call for death to Israel.

Eh.  You know what's going to get publicized and on the news?  His speech where he called Hamas "the other guys."  You know what's not?  An official statement buried on a website.

Hopefully but I'm not expecting anything. The corporate  insider crook faction of the party still generally supports Israel, it's the perennially butthurt freak show faction that embraces terrorists.

There are protests by Palestinians in the West Bank against their own govt the Palestinian Authority and in support of Hamas. So it’s getting old seeing apologies to the Palestinian people when a large number of them support Hamas.

This administration is really going to give Palestine 100 million on the promise they will use it for humanitarian efforts.  JFC.  Hamas will 100% take that.  Embarrassing.

Post WWII, Republicans did not pay as much lip service to American Jews in areas that they were concentrated (cities), and in areas that they weren't concentrated (rural) they were seen with almost as much animosity and suspicion as American blacks.  The Democrats paid enough attention to them (and the American Black) and gave them enough of a seat at their table to command their vote.

I'd imagine as long as the narrative of "Jewish Space Lasers" exists amongst the RNC....American Jews aren't going to run over to their side.  The devil you know.......

Yes I’m serious.

Here’s a mainstream media article on it. Not something your aunt reposted on X, but actual reporting: https://www.pbs.org/newshour/amp/nation/demonstrators-rally-across-the-u-s-in-response-to-conflict-between-israel-and-hamas

Basically you have very small groups of people in a few cities. (And they deserve to get their asses kicked, by the way.) This is a nation of 330 million people. 75 assh0les in Atlanta don’t mean sh1t.

Like I said, this stuff gets amplified and spread all over social media so people like you think it’s an epidemic. It obviously is not. Only the craziest of the crazy would rally in support of raping and murdering innocent civilians, children and babies

Still haven’t seen it anywhere with my own two eyes.

Still don’t even know a single person who has.

Have you? Do you?

Oh but you saw some stuff on Facebook. And news stories about Arab countries that hate Israel who are also currently hating Israel. That’s new

No, Worms, I didn't fly to every city and confirm the news footage that I've seen isn't digitally altered.

Oh okay, so it really hasn’t effected you personally or even anyone you know.

Almost like it’s not that big a deal?

I mean, there’s focktards out there for everything. Fortunately we’re talking like 2 out of 435 members of Congress (and fock them), and probably about the same amount of the general population, which is to say about 0.5% or one of every 200ish people. :dunno:

Actually yeah. I know a couple attorneys who are representing defendants and one person whose brother got charged. Last I heard he’d disappeared. Apparently the guy went way, way down the QAnon rabbit hole and completely lost his mind :(

Possible.  I have wondered if it may be a perception that the party which advocated genocide against them and sought to carry it out is percived as being from then political right and therefore the eschew the right no matter what.
