Yup. I subscribe to The Athletic now.  That's pretty good.

In it's hey day though, it was a must read magazine.  RIP

Jeez, remember when SI magazine was the shlt? When they reported quality sports and had intelligent fun with it and the swimsuit issue had actual women? Dang, how they have fallen.

Not too many of the Dead Tree Media publications have successfully made the transition to the digital age. Since SI had lasted this long, I felt that they might be one of the exceptions, but I guess not. 😞

You can go on Instagram and see 100 girls, just as beautiful, for free...and even DM them.

That’s not why I ended my subscription.   And I wasn’t even paying for it. I spent a few years walking from the mailbox to the garbage can with it.

I'm reminiscing (sp). Back in the eighties that was not an option as far as the internet. And I'm glad for it. I have never gone on the internet to check out women. Of course I notice some, but it's not an obsession. I never would have as I only get pleasure out of them in person. As most nirmals do. But SI was different somehow. It was it's own thing. It was iconic to a degree.

I had bought a subscription from someone’s kid for some drive and had been getting this for a past year or so. It really was sad at this point. Maybe 5 minutes of content.

This mag and The Sporting News were the shet when I was a kid.

RIP

Peter King became unbearable, constantly infusing his politics.  And that was before Trump. He sucks anyway.  Professional asss kisser.

I don’t know anyone who ever used SI for sports. It’s too outdated once it hit the news stands. Occasionally you’d buy one cause it might have had your favorite athlete on the cover or cause the swimsuit issue but they put fatties and dudes that ended it

Well when they decided to ignore their main customer base & start pandering to ppl that don’t even read the magazines much less buy them that’s when their downfall began. It’s been a common occurrence for companies nowadays. In an attempt to get the demographics that don’t have anything to do with the company they essentially screw over their existing customers that got them to where they’re at in the first place. It’s just bad marketing & bad business. Like Star Wars. Woman that’s in charge now said she “loves making men feel uncomfortable”. This same woman is in charge of a universe that was created by, created for, and made popular by men.

Sad but inevitable.  SI was definitely a big part of any sports fan in my generation’s childhood.  We always thought the cover jinx was real.

ETA. I probably haven’t seen a paper copy in 10+ years.

I have a framed picture of the cover with 1980 US Olympic Hockey Team  celebrating in my quasi man cave.

Excellent!  This is good news!

We need to purge these people form any high-profile jobs, jobs of influence or power.  These people should basically be janitors or sewage workers.  All this "woke" people need to go.  Preferably to the favorite Communist country of their choice.

Weird that you want to work with them.

They had good articles back in the day. The one I remember(at least I think was an SI article), was The Illusion of Victory. It was about the Hagler Leonard fight.

He left SI a few years ago. I can't remember reading the actual magazine in the last 30 years outside a dentist office.
