Rudy ordered to give penthouse to Georgia election workers

Story

A federal judge on Tuesday ordered former Donald Trump attorney and New York mayor Rudy Giuliani to turn over all his valuable possessions and his Manhattan penthouse apartment to the control of Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, the Georgia election workers he defamed and to whom he now owes $150 million.

Judge Lewis Liman of the federal court in Manhattan said Giuliani must turn over his interest in the property to the women in seven days, to a receivership they will control. The judge’s turnover order of the luxury items is swift and simple, but the penthouse apartment will have its control transferred so Freeman and Moss can sell it, potentially for millions of dollars.

The women, who counted Georgia ballots after the 2020 election, will also be entitled to about $2 million in legal fees Giuliani has said the Trump campaign still owes him, the judge ruled.

In addition to the Trump campaign fees and the New York apartment, Giuliani must also turn over a collection of several watches, including ones given to him by European presidents after the September 11, 2001, attacks; a signed Joe DiMaggio jersey and other sports memorabilia; and a 1980 Mercedes once owned by the Hollywood star Lauren Bacall. Additionally, the judge ordered that Giuliani turn over his television, items of furniture and jewelry.

Ouch

This is the Democrat's version of Kristallnacht also called the Night of  Broken Glass where Germans were allowed to take over and/or destroy Jewish businesses.   The Dems are using corrupt judges instead of the SS to give the illusion of this being legal.  The fact that courts can use trivial matters to destroy people is scary.

Reason 10,000 calling Democrats bootlickers for authoritarian bastards is neither hyperbole or rhetoric, but undeniable truth.

Comparing a scumbag, who at one time seemed to be a great man (don't quite get his fall), who caused these women problems with his rhetoric to a Nazi attack against Jews?  Got it.

Poor Rudy. The dude was a pretty good mayor in NYC by all accounts and did a lot to help the city. And in the aftermath of 9/11 he did a lot to assuage fears and promote NYC as a fighter who would rise back up setting them up as a microcosm of the larger US as a whole. He didn't do everything perfect during it all but there is a reason he became "America's Mayor" during that time....

And then 20 years later he trades it all in to be a ball washer for a grifting douchenozzle who won't do a single thing to help Rudy out now because Rudy is of no value to him. Giuliani is like the other old people who have been taken advantage of by the system and are rundown and beatdown in their waning days just because they are easily duped.

Exactly, there is absolutely no comparison. He brought this on himself by being a money grubbing knee scraping boot licking ass kisser of Trump. Rudy deserves all he is getting. He is a disgrace.

Should an officer of the Court have been more circumspect, absolutely.  Is the judgment in proportion to resonably anticipatable damages or actual damages, I have my doubts.  Is the Court right to enforce the judgment, absolutely once it has survived appeal and motions for remittur.

Rudy should have tried a new defense in the case.  He should have alleged he was not in charge of his faculties because he was legitimately drunk on the media limelight.  That would have been a marvelous circus. He could have claimed he was unable to appreciate the nature and quality of his statements.  He was dragged (drugged) into an alternative reality by the intoxicating and addicting nature of media attention.  This is all horse sh!t, of course, but no less so than some defenses presented the last four or five decades.  It just needed an attorney with hubris and no scruples to present the argument, so maybe half of us attorneys out there, if not more.

I am not that kind.  They are low-life scum who would have been first in line to turn on the gas in the gas chamber.   And that is not even remotely a hyperbole.   It was not hard for Germans to recruit Nazis when there are these types who are this susceptible to hate through propaganda.

Rudy is a public figure. He knowingly accused Freeman and Moss by name of fraud. They both received death threats and people showing up to their homes and jobs to confront them.

$150M seems like a lot, but you know what? Fock Rudy. He’s a POS.

I know, bootlickers don't give a fuk about having a fair legal justice system.  As long as it is just the Jews being put in the gas chamber, no skin off your back.

It doesn't appear that Rudy HAD $150M.  I mean, that's a lot of money, not even Saint Barack has amassed that much, I believe.

As such, the penalty seems unduly punitive, don't you think?  :dunno:

I don’t know what the usual penalty, but I’d expect a lot of millions given that Rudy is well known and undoubtedly put them in danger by his knowingly false claims.

Dude lost his law license, millions of $ and he’s facing numerous criminal charges. Wtf was he thinking hitching his wagon to Trump?

Trump broke Giuliani in a way that is so complete & total it’s unimaginable. Appeared on national TV in drag. Lost his reputation, all his finances, his law practice, criminally charged, lost his family, his home, forced to live in Florida, completely out of even the Maga political future. Four Seasons humiliation, the dripping hair color, the scene in the movie where he thinks he’s getting lucky with an underaged girl. Just utter devastation.

Sorry, I don't follow politics the way a lot of people around here do 24/7, especially not what former mayors are doing...   What did Rudy do that warrants $150 million in damages?

You might be thinking of Franz Gurtner. No, he was never sued or charged criminally.
