Richard Gere blasts Donald Trump

Recommended Posts

https://deadline.com/2025/02/richard-gere-donald-trump-goya-awards-speech-1236283411/

Accepting a lifetime achievement honor at Spain’s Goya Awards this weekend, Richard Gere had some choice words about the state of things in the U.S. amid Donald Trump‘s second term in office. “We’re in a very dark place in America where we have a bully and a thug who’s the President of the United States,” the actor and producer said from the stage inside Granada’s Palacio de Congresos.

He’d begun his acknowledgements expressing gratitude for being a part of the “world of telling stories” and recognizing the “thousands of people it takes to make a movie.” The Officer and a Gentleman, Pretty Woman and Chicago star then continued, “We’re all part of a universe of overlapping pain and sadness and joy and expectations and dreams and hopes and visions. And I see this world that we’re in now forgetting that, and this kind of very foolish tribalism is starting to take us over, where we think we’re all separate from each other, and we have unfortunately elected officials that don’t inspire us in the way we want to be inspired.”

"A very dark place".

Anyone feeling that? I mean, what is the focking actual point of saying garbage like that?

We have 15+ TDS infected on this site alone and this guy Vince44 feels the need to point out another TDS infected liberal in the world. A Hollywood queen no less. Shocking I tell you.

The guy is 75. My dad went all liberal in his mid 80s. Isn't that usually the cycle of politics. Liberal til you get a job and have to support yourself.

Conservative until after you retire and the real aging sets in 10+ years after that.

Then liberal-ish in your dying years.

  • Thanks 1

Jesus, you could probably sell this idea right now and make a tidy sum. This is what passes for originality these days in Hollywoo.

Do these things actually matter to people?

No. And I love they do it over seas. Think Dixie Chunks.

In some ways yes.

Most of it I can live with  with even if I disagree. But I have a huge problem with the way undocumented people are being persecuted. I think there is a bigotry, fear and ugliness out there currently that is very much un-American IMO. Same with how trans folks are being treated though that’s a much smaller group of people.

Of course you are. Everyone can tell you are hurting.

I'm all good with it. Get rid of the illegals. Let them go back home and take the right path to becomes citizens if they want. 1 dead person, 1 raped woman, are 2 too many crimes to allow their presence to remain in this country.

I’m not hurting personally. I’m describing what I see and don’t like.

Then why are you and the other liberals on this site sky screaming as if this is torture for you all?

Trump voters seem to be rather satisfied. I know I am. And no, don't go predicting my doom and gloom future. You already did that and it was based on nothing.

So what is your goal here. To be the Moaning Myrtle of this site?  No one is buying in other than the other libs who are crying ad nauseum.

Reasonable criticism is not the same as screaming.

They were the ones who made the mistake to build homes into well known wild fire sections of California.

I won't miss any of them. Good riddance creampuffs.

Wrapped in tape while it was alive and shoved right up there. That's where MDC learned it.
